Wordpress is 1 step ahead from blogger just bcs of its service that u can download wordpress and can use on your own webserver easily. But with blogger u can't do this.

But for free blogging nothing is better than blogger.

A self-hosted WordPress install on your own domain is the best in my opinion. There is an amazing community of developers and contributors. You can get plugins to add just about any functionality, and free themes that look fantastic, in all different styles, along with plenty of documentation on how to create your own custom themes and build your own plugins. You can customize it to match the rest of your site. It's also the most SEO-friendly out of the box, and with a few plugins and tweaks, it can be very SEO-friendly.

Yep, stand-alone blog based on WP is the best thing for pro bloggers bcs of its opportunities, but it also requires you to know a lot of things such as using .htaccess, robots.txt etc.

Your blog, your domain/hosting - it's really your property :)

I think there is a pretty strong consensus - Wordpress is the best blogging platform for a variety of reasons.

One that I would like to point out is the number of high quality wordpress themes that are available to download and use. You just drop the new theme into your themes sub directory and off you go - a complete redesign of your site in a matter of minutes

Wordpress 2.7 and onwards hasan automatic upgrade feature and the ability to choose plugins from within the Wordpress dashboard and install them automatically.
This makes installing and running a blog easy and doesn't require me to know much technical details.

Wordpress definitely gets the thumbs up from me.

Wordpress is truly the best blogging software available as of now. Ready availability of plugins and themes for the same make it, all the more convenient and rich in features to use.
