I see some logic in the argument put forward by you. I hope it is just not another case where google eventually wants to control the niche it wants to display on your site rather than what your content forces it too.... Some period of experimentation is perhaps needed before we base any judgment on the same.... I hope it is just not another googly from google! Regards, RightMan
I want to know what EXTRA information should be added in the privacy policy page????Also guys, there is no need to panic as the deadline to make the changes is 8th April 2009.
Can somebody tell me the benefits of having this on? I have a VERY high paying niche and get a dollar a click, and I guarantee this will not increase my CTR. So what are the benefits for me if I keep this on...? I'm really confused.
Adsense help says: Your posted privacy policy should include the following information about Google and the DoubleClick DART cookie: * Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on your site. * Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and other sites on the Internet. * Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.
Your CTR will increase since the ads are targeted well and give the visitors a good link they probably will be prone to click
My site isn't really a high traffic site, I make my $ by the extremely high paying niche. If CTR is the only effect of this feature I am turning it off.
I'm sure it will improve our CTR but it will probably reduce our eCPM, especially in high paying niches. I hope there's an option to disable interest-based advertising
That's true but at least we know the ads that are available on our sites and that they are relevant to the content we write.
sounds like user privacy is invaded quite alot. I like basketball, write blog about MMO, search online for lyrics... what's it gonna be the ads display for me? LOL doesn't sound so good as a surfer. then again, as a publisher, we might be showing crazy ads to target customers... still confused.
Users will get annoyed very fast of the same ads on every website they visit. This will not benefit user experience. I hate even when Amazon tries to push books down my throat based on my previous purchases. I really DO feel my privacy is violated. I personally read hundreds of sites on different topics every day and I think many people are like me. I don't want labels to put on me. If I visit a site about science I don't want to see a single advertisement about web design, yet I fall into both of these interest groups. If Google gives me an easy option to turn this new feature off as a web surfer and as a publisher then I think I can live with that.
No all my sites have a privacy policy, like little mini sites that don't collect any data. Does this mean I have to add a PP to all my sites to use Adsense, or can I pick and choose which sites are included in this new scheme?
Any site you have adsense on has to have a privacy policy...it's been that way for quite a while now...the only change is the new addition of wording to address the DART cookies.
Any practical example how we can implement it on our site. If some one already done this plz show us the link where u added these details and as some site have their personal privacy policy page should they have to make a separte page or add in the same page?
Adsense is always looked for something of user's intrest and surely the modifications are going to be better...!
This feature definitely sucks. Can someone explain -- can we turn this feature off for our sites or it's a must?
