use all types of different advertising and marketing channels like forum sigs, blog posts and comments, UGC sites like squidoo, zimbio, hubpages, wet paint and the like (create pages dedicated to your widget with links to your site)

promotional videos and sales letters, press releases and articles, social bookmarking sites where you could add your site to the appropriate categories by using the right tags, social networks and so on and so forth...

there are actually sooo many ways to spread the buzz about your widget, just do some research and see how others do it, what works for them and what does not, try to find what turns people off when being marketed to buy or use such widgets, analyze their behavior and make sure you deliver this widget of yours the way they want it...

    good luck!

If your widget is really good, you could tell killerstartups about it. google search on killerstartups and you'll know what i am talking about.

Just go out there and contact other webmasters that might be interested in your widget. Tell them a bit about yourself and ask if they would like to test-drive your widget on their sites. This is by far the most effective way to get a word out about a widget.

What is it? Is it an iframe or Javascript? What it does?
