Google's Algorithm CHANGED.... Anchor text is DEAD

    The past year, I realized the importance of anchor text. Ive been going crazy on blogs, writing articles, submitting to directories.... doing whatever I could to get "juicy" anchor text.

    Google's algorithm has now CHANGED!!! ... and I notice this all across the board.....

    Now, Google isnt care if a site has 1000 PR0 Anchor text links........... it will rank a site higher that has NO ANCHOR TEXT links...... but HIGH AUTHORITIES backlinks.........


    As long as the keywords are mentioned in the title tag & text...... 2-3 STRONG backlinks will beat 100 PR0 anchor directories any day of the week


    So now, my whole strategy has changed

    Im ranking 1st & 2nd page for many keywords..... but need to be #1 for all keywords


    For now on, no more of these crappy backlinks from PR0 directories etc. ... I got enough

    It's all about the high authorities backlinks anchor or no anchor!!!!!!

    higher PR backlinks have always been better than a ton of PR0 backlinks :)

    no, not really, Its about the relative quantities. A PR0 isn't actually zero (unless youve been banned!) its something like 0.00000121010.

    What would you rather have, 1 PR2 link or 100 PR0?

    1 PR 2 or 1000000 PR 0?

    1 PR 2 or 1000000000 PR 0 - see where I'm going with this?

    I thought that ???

    I thought that the PR didn't matter in the page rankings that much. PR hasn't really effected any of my rankings.

    I never go for those PR0 directory, it just waste your time. Always looking for PR2 and above

    urrr ummm yip...

    I myself still do everything directories, articles, bookmarks and ONLY link with sites in my own niche...
    meaning i dont chase a site that has nothing to do with my niche and or chase a site for its PR and
    im ranking very well for keywords ;)

    Those PR0 links work for me as they still send traffic which is what i want :D

    Hi Simple.... im not sure when or if this was ever changed..... or if it was always like this

    I remember about 5-6 months ago getting anchor text links was bringing me right to the top....

    Now, Im seeing sites with no anchor text.... but MAJOR AUTHORITY backlinks.... coming to the top of all the keywords in their homepage & title tag

    Im also seeing..... the anchor links I have for keywords I was hardly ranking for...... arent doing anything for me....... they were bringing me 3rd or 4th page before..... for weaker kw's.... now nowhere to be found

    I definitely think this is something that has happened in the last 2-5 months......

    I think anchor text is all over



    It all makes sense...... people will spam for anchor text to manipulate Google


    I think Google finally has their algorithm right..... if you have authority links.... among other things (page optimization title tags keywords, etc.).... you go above the rest

    Google "Click here" visit the first result, view the title tag and keywords of that site. You will then realize that what you are saying is wrong.

    Anchor text still plays a part in SERPs

    We are all looking for the same, but ANCHOR TEXT IS DEAD !!! That's a huge statement and it's not even new that quality links from high authority related websites have always been better the quantity links ;)

    Personally, I agree with xc06 — "anchor text still very important imo"

    I always use carefully selected anchor text in both my external linking and internal linking. That has pushed currently 36 of my keywords to page #1 of Google's search results.

    I see no evidence that Google is devaluing anchor text.
