Image ads side by side Text ads against TOS??

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by bubaipal, Mar 6, 2009.

    Hi

I just wanna ask you if I can place a large rec img ad side by side of another large rec text ad. TOS says we cannot place misleading images but what if the image ads are present?

Mailed support but still no answer. Anyone has any word from Google??

Also is blending against TOS. Like same background colour as ad without borders?

    Thanks

Any other answers guys? Anyone got warning or something for doing this?

Infact it yields good results so I am reluctant to undo it.

You'll get yes and no in this forum and neither answer is going to mean a hill of beans since we aren't the ones who will ban you or let you do it...Ask Google Adsense. An image-ad is an image is an image, though, so I'd be leaning more towards the idea that it might not be allowed. So...you have one yes and one probably not. Ask Google and let us know what they say. You can mock up a dummy page, tell them it's not live and ask if the placement is permissible.

Post a picture of what you're asking so we can be more sure. There are rules against some image/text combinations... ie: putting an image next to a text link ad that might be misleading about the content.

I don't think blending is against TOS?

Both are just fine IMO. Beware of getting smart-priced though.

This isn't really an issue of "blending" TOS specifically has provisions about images being next to ads, also against drawing undue attention to the ads by any means and an image ad may do exactly that. He didn't get a response yet from his first inquiry, but an actual mock up of the page may get quicker results than just asking a question. I've always gotten quick placement-related verdicts from them when I've provided a mock-up

Not sure.. I'd rather contact Google and ask them. They say images are against TOS. Effectively their image ads are also 'images' and thus violate their TOS. But like I said, don't draw any conclusions at this point. Ask them ;)

Jen says "They also don't allow things like arrows, etc... any image that would draw attention to the ads."

An image ad could very well fit the criteria of image that "draws attention to the ads" so it's still not a cut and dried solution and the only way to be safe is to get the OK from google themselves.

That's right. You can place two ads together (let it be image ads/text link ads) which is within the TOS. It is safe and I have seen many sites displaying ads like this and even I have tried it in some of the pages...

I tried and tested using two large rectangles near each other and I can assure you that the CTR is not much higher in this situation, so I am not risking it anymore and decided to use one square surrounded by text only.

best you can do is email Adsense with the example page and ask if its okay. as far as i know, placing images directly aligned with ads (in a way that suggests the ad is picture's description) is not allowed.
