The new design is for the US English Adsense homepage, which they had problem with when they rolled it out last night. Supposedly they rolled it back because of an issue of not being able to login to Adsense. Well it looks like the new version is out again and it just keeps looping back to the login screen.

    it stucks in Germany too,
today they offered the possibility to change the $-accounts into €, maybe too many changes eat up too many ressources in the moment;-)

Login issues about an hour ago plus stats stuck for several hours. Usually this self-corrects after a while. Have not yet seen any comment from google.

this is actually good for me. it lets me know i spend way too much time watching adsense money roll in. i should be concentrating more on the content and not on what adsense is paying me for the day.

That doesn't justify your statement, though, that we lose (do not earn) money during downtimes. I've never seen any evidence of that, even though we get all the griping posts every Saturday that Adsense is down. If so, statistically, Saturdays should show a significant drop in earnings. I did an analysis a few months ago (I posted the results on DP) that showed that, for me, not only was Saturday not a low-earning day, it was ranked 4 of 7 for earnings.

If we didn't earn money during downtimes, that would NOT be the case. Saturday would show statistically significant lower earnings.

What does it matter if you check your stats several times a day?

Sorry...solid data are not 'estimates' They simply show that Google is not screwing us during downtimes as you claimed.
