    ^ thats for advertisers only

MSN adCenter currently ONLY advertises on MSN sites.

It does not have a publisher side yet.

Publisher side is going to be called ContentAds which is going to be similar to Google Adsense.

The link above definitely looks like the right link -
    http://advertising.microsoft.com/publisher

But when I got to the Name box, that stopped me.
(First, Last) Looks pretty goofy. Like everything else they do.
John, Smith - Did anyone there think about this at all?
And how clueless it looks? Never seen ever, any place else before. It just looks like they are not thinking properly.

And the "swearing in", even before you have joined? (Please check this box to confirm that you have read and agree to the Microsoft Privacy Statement and adCenter Publisher License and Service Agreement.)
This is an INTEREST form, not a SIGNUP form.

More strict than Google - 4. PROHIBITIONS - ALL websites must be approved - "You may not - access the Service from any websites or other locations, other than Your Websites that have been approved by Microsoft."
They demand exclusivity - "You may not - Include any other search advertisements (i.e., advertisements displayed in response to search queries) on the same page . . ."

Bogus Agreement - 8. PRE-RELEASE SERVICE - Basically says that nothing in the agreement is viable, since it is going to be rewritten later. But YOU MUST AGREE with it! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.

No Support - "9. SUPPORT. Microsoft is not obligated to provide any technical or other support (“Support Services”) for Service."
No stats, no feedback, no analytics, no webmaster tools, no email, no phone number, etc.

From the drop-down menu, it does look like they are planning to start in 37 of the world's 200 countries. Brazil is the only South American country listed. South Africa is the only African country listed. Israel, Russia, Romania, Pakistan and Viet Nam are noticeably absent.

I am not impressed with their initial efforts. It is 2009! And still nothing. 2010? Will they have something going by the end of the world in 2012? CLUUUUUUUE LESSSSSSSSS NESSSSSSS.

The lyrics from Whinin' Boy Blues come to mind (Hot Tuna) -
"Sister, sister, she's a dirty little sow,
She wants to be a bad girl, but she just don't know how."

The site for publishers is here

    https://beta.pubcenter.microsoft.com/

i've been accepted and have been serving some of their ads but they seem to be having some technical problems so i've stopped their ads for now. I kept getting blank ads many many times.

I'm not too impressed by it.

    hyeteck -
    https://beta.pubcenter.microsoft.com/

    Great URL, thank you.

They have also redone their Sign-Up page here -
    https://advertising.microsoft.com/publisher
Much improved, plus they have added FAQs, one of which says that they are also offering CPM ads.
However, they took away the drop-down list of countries that are eligible. One step forward, two steps back.

Whereas, they were previously called ContentAds, they are now called adCenter Publisher, and also pubCenter, or PubCenter. They are not consistent about whether or not the "p" should be capitalized. More indecision. STILL not sure about what to call themselves.

    Google AdSense - zero ambiguity
Yahoo YPN - Yahoo Publisher's Network - zero ambiguity
Microsoft ContentAds - Microsoft adCenter Publisher - Microsoft pubCenter - Microsoft PubCenter - Huh?
Kinda like Microsoft Search, MSN Search, Live Search, Windows Live Search, and now Kumo.
BRANDING is huge. Does M$ even know what it means?
Think "hot iron in the fire" - it doesn't change - that's WHY it is called branding!

    Ad Blocking -
OMG, another unnecessary level of complexity. This is terrible. If a webmaster wants to block an ad, they probably want to block it ENTIRELY!

Um, hierarchically speaking, channels come first. For instance, you probably want to put a channel on EVERY page, but you certainly don't want to filter EVERY page. Optimism slowly sinking.

Even navigating the FAQs is screwed up. Your browser back-button doesn't work. You MUST find and use THEIR back-button. Another hard-to-believe issue. Another case of MS trying to redefine the web to their liking.

Microsoft has redefined websites as "properties". Whenever you see "property", it means "website".

    Here's more -
    http://advertising.microsoft.com/publishersolutions-media
Light grey text on a white background - I can almost read it. Their PDFs are even worse - they suck the eyeballs right out of my head. I wonder if they know about Jacob Nielsen. And what Figure and Ground means (if there is sufficient contrast between text and the background, then you can read the text! Astounding!).

    Thanks, folks, I appreciate it.

So, I thought, Hey! Stop being so negative. Why not give them a chance?
So I applied. Here is their response -
    [IMG]

I am at a loss for words. Seinfeld comes to mind. "Sweet, Fancy Moses!" Jumpin' Jehosephat!
In all my years on the Internet, I have never received an email as unreadable as this.

    Thought #1. Standard MS cluelessness.
Thought #2. Some employees at MS are sabotaging the program, on purpose.
Thought #3. You had better be on EVERYTHING MICROSOFT, computer, OS, email client and everything else, or you don't stand a chance. And even then, it will be difficult.
Thought #4. They STILL don't understand the MOST BASIC concept of the Internet - CROSS-PLATFORM COMPATIBILITY! Internet standards, not Microsoft standards.
Thought #5. If you CAN'T SEND A READABLE EMAIL, how in the name of everything Holy can you ever expect to serve targeted ads successfully, which is two orders of magnitude more complex?

    Google rules.
