No big deal? For who? The advertiser, maybe. Google, not. Why would Google continually want to serve higher paying ads to a site that is not going to get clicks and not going to make them any money. Google looks out for Google.

Just because the clicks are low does not mean they are not quality clicks. Google has to look out for Google in the long run, and that means keeping sites that satisfy ADVERTISERS. Publishers are a dime-a-dozen, Advertisers are Google's bread and butter and thus the aspect that Google wants to keep happy.

With that in mind, a high CTR that doesn't convert for the ADVERTISER is going to cause more problems and be less desirous to have in the program than a low CTR site that gives the ADVERTISER the traffic he wants. Such a low CTR site will not have any trouble with the network whereas the HIGHER CTR site might be the one that gets smart-priced. Kind of the opposite of what everyone here (or at least most people here) are thinking.

If CTR did play a fact, it would probably be something like Smartpricing.

With Adwords, a low CTR will give you a bad quality rating, and a HUGE minimum bid.

You need to do a little bit of math to figure out the ePC. Take your earnings and divide by the clicks, that gives you the earnings per click.
