Firstly just let me say that I am a HUGE MASSIVE Tolkien fanatic, I have quite a few rare and expensive Tolkien books and I like to collect them.

There is a website that I know of that deals and sells rare and sought after Tolkien books,

I came across the most GORGEOUS handwritten Tolkien book, it has taken 3 years to complete with inserts and the way the book is made is astonishing!
Just look at the pictures of it.
    http://www.tolkienlibrary.com/HariIstvan/000002.htm

It's the ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD, original.

Now I got VERY excited when I saw the price at € 55.000

Now in the UK € 55.000 could be seen as Fifty Five Euros.

So I hurriedly in my excitement emailed off an offer to place an order on the book.

Imagine my dismay when the email I got back said that the original was
    € 55.000, Fifty Five THOUSAND Euro :(

A stupid schoolboy error I know, in my excitement I overlooked one very small, but also very crucial point :(

There are also some fascimile versions of the book, where it has been copied by the handwriter but instead of being two volumes it has been condensed into one, but that still sells for € 2200, still out of my price range, looks just as nice, but still not the same as an original hand written hand made copy.

    I wish I had € 55.000 :(

    :(

Well thats a given really, I was just so excited I didn't see or think properly.

I still cant now, I feel kinda numb lol, I need that book but I know I'll never get it! :(

I know it took 3 years to make and it was completely hand made but Fifty Five thousand Euros!!!

It's one of the most expensive tolkien books ever bar The Songs for the Philologists which goes for $10.000 (if it comes up for sale at all)

Because there are only 14 known copies left in the world, because the rest burnt down in a fire at the warehouse they were being made in.

It is lovely! I can imagine your excitement. I am no fan, but I am impressed by the works. Certainly deserved the price, if you have the spare cash.

If you are in school and online on these types of site trying to make a living at such an early age, I think you will make it there very fast. I learned about the internet in 1999 around there, got my first domain in 2003, never did anything until last year 2008.

    Still learning the rope.

Wow... I'm a Tolkien fan myself...
Hopefully some time I would be able to pay 55Keuros for something like this.
    A real work of art...

Tolkien was the author to The Hobbit, The Lord of The Rings, The Silmarillion and so many more amazing wonderful books, poems, songs and stories.

    Your welcome :)

It's incredible, 3 years in production, I'm going to really see if I can try to get one of the fascimile copies, it'll be hard to save up 2200 euro in this economy but we'll see :p

Uh, xx.xxx is the same amount of digits regardless what currency you use.
Did you truly believe the exchange rate was that low?

Uh well I've always known that if there is a decimal point placed in the figure then to cut it off as a whole where the decimal point is,

E.G. if you saw £43.00 you'd only think it was £43.

whereas if you saw £43,00. It'd be fortythree hundred or four thousand three hundred.

What threw me out was the fact that with Euros '.'s are used to dictate higher values than ','s
    It's reversed in the UK.

I know the exchange rate isnt that low, I'm not retarded, if you read my earlier posts again and more carefully next time you'll see that what I was saying was that in my excitement I forgot that with euros, '.' is used instead of ',' where inlEngland ',' is used to dictate higher values.

    50,000 EUR means 3,236,628.77 INR.

If I had that money, I would repay all my debts, save money for my kid and then wisely invest the rest of the money on marketing and promoting my websites.
