Assuming that you can read, you can learn nearly everything you need to know from: http://www.w3schools.com/ http://www.php.net/docs.php
I agree with the sentiments on using Google . That said, I highly recommend Webmonkey.com for beginners. They've been around for a long time, and have tutorials on everything from basic HTML to database development. As a shameless plug, I've written a beginner's Perl tutorial that has been pretty well received by hobbyists with an interest in web scripting. Buying a couple of actual "dead tree" books is also advised. The O'Reilly series of books cover pretty much anything you'd care to study when it comes to programming and web development (they're the ones with animals on the covers). I'd like to note that it takes time and dedication to become a professional software developer. I've been at it professionally for a decade, and I first got into programming as a kid when my dad gave me a computer with a C compiler on it. He told me if I wanted software, I could write it myself . Good luck in your studies!
@Kerosene's - I also started learning from the website you mentioned. W3Schools is the biggest and such a nice resource to learn every thing about programming. - BTW, it will be difficult to learn MS .net framework online, for that i'd joined a private classes. - When you got some knowledge than download readymade programs/software available on web and customize it and you will become a good programmer soon enough, if you have great determination to learn programming.
If it were that easy there wouldn't be a yahoo answers for this type of demand. To answer your question on PHP, start by using YouTube and looking for PHP Tutorials, reading ebooks, and look for open source CMS scripts to learn the structure. Not everything can be learned from books and vids, sometimes you gotta get your hands dirty.
The best way to learn to me is by videos but you need to invest some money in your hardware first. Please bear with me a minute: My Pc has two monitors and a nice program called ultramon that allows me to move the desktop easily to right or center monitor. After that I open in my center desktop the software I want to learn (let's say dream weaver)and in the other right the video lesson of that particular program. I learned , learning now and will learn all my programm like that. YOU MUST spend 25$ a month to get a membership of lynda.com which is the biggest online video library ...that includes php, and flex , java and so on. Worth every penny Then after you joined , you log in, you choose a subject )let's say PHP) choose teacher and bang you done. On one video you watch the lesson and simultanesly you do and follow the same steps as the guy is showing on the video
