Hi everyone! I need your advice. Currently, I am employed as a Communications Trainer in a company of about 300 people. I train them to communicate better using English as the language medium. Basically, the people I train are not native English speakers. So anyway, on the side I write articles for clients and earn good money out of it. Now my question is: Should I quit my day job and focus on writing? Both professions pay well so I'm sort of undecided as to what I should do. Any piece of advice would surely help. Regards, SmartWritingSolutions
I suggest you to continue with your day job too alongwith parttime writing. No need to leave your day job it pays you well. DON.
I would not suggest you to quit your day job - it would be stupid .. believe me ! You can do writing in your free time and earn some additional money, but your real job will always be a huge backup ..
I suggest you to continue with the present day job as it is paying you well but if you have leisure time after your day job, you can do some online writing work that will help to supplement the main income
I strongly advise you not to leave a good paying satisfying offline job...at least not just for writing.... If you have a passion for writing and is earning you decent money, do continue with it, but only as a part time activity. I agree, working on ones' passion is equally important but your job also allows you to interact with the language (an imp.part of your passion) as well as giving you the financial stability. Don't quit your full time job unless write articles for clients is constant for a few months and is giving you at least 50% more than your full time job, IMHO
Thanks for all the advice. After giving it much thought (approximately 3 days), I've decided to keep both jobs for now.
I will have to completely agree with Rightman. Also, when you are happy with your day job, you really dont want to quit.Online and Offline jobs can co exist and make you happy Its good to hear that you are training non native English speakers.Actually, it is a great service than just teaching. Trust me!
I think you must continue the day job , and work for extra time to earn some bucks by article writing.
I think you should continue with your job and then in your free time do writing. The reason behind this is that you will have multiple source of incomes. And in today's world, the cleverer is he who has multiple sources of income. Hope that helps you friend.
Glad that you have made the right choice of keeping the day job, at least you have a income that will guaranteed comes at the end of the month
All I can say is do what makes you, you. If you can live on your writing and get by ok, do it. Money isn't everything! Now, if money is everything... I have been told over and over again by my rich clients "only risks, or blood money pays off in the end"
Like most of the members suggested, don't quit your day job now. Just keep writing as your part time job to pay off the bills.
