Referring Sites include porn sites

Hi,

I'm getting lots of Referring Sites that are porn sites (mainly pornlivenews), also pills and gambling etc.

Why? Will this affect seo and if so how do I stop it?

if the reffering sites use rel="nofollow" then now problem otherwise it might be harmful for ur site.

 

Why would it be harmful??, surely Google etc allow freedom of speech..

 

did you add those links there or hired someone to do any link building for you? there is no reason for any porn or pill sites to add your link if your site is not related.

 

I strongly recommend you to avoid links to porn site unless you have a porn session on your website. The reason is links from a tech (I hope) site to porn site and vice verse clearly tells google that it is a link building to manipulate the page ranking. I hope you got the trick

I've not added my link to any of these sites they are simply being listed as referring sites in my site logs. I've done no link building either.

Those inbound links won't hurt you with the search engines. Otherwise, your competitors could easily sabotage your website by getting "bad" links pointing to your pages. Google, Yahoo, etc., fully understand this and know that you can't control who links to you.

But you can control your outbound links. So be very careful with your outbound linking. Personally, on my website with about 12K inbound links, I have linked out to maybe 20 websites max.

 

Usually those referrals are fake, just to make you visit those sites. A form of spam, dont worry.

 

I wouldn't go into that kind of stuff.

 

that was quite interesting. How did it happened? Try to investigate having lots of referring site from a pornographic site. Too bad most especially if it is not related to your niche.

 

Such links shouldn't hurt you. Otherwise it would cause link wars
