Economy bud... Businesses are spending less on internet marketing at the moment, when the economy is better AdSense will be better.

Definately has something to do with the economy i'm sure.

Also Google has gotten a lot better about filtering out poor adwords users, such as MFA. I also think advertisers have matured a bit and learned to be smarter, even as little as 2 years ago, many advertisers were unsure of what they were doing and would just throw a bunch of money into adwords to see what happened, now they are more saavy.

I am not saying the economy is the "ONLY" thing that is resulting the revenue from adsense to drop temendously. But it is a large part...even if most people dont think it is. Businesses are cutting back internet advertising, Google is paying less because of all the MFA, and crappy websites out there just trying to make a buck or two through AdSense, Keywords change, the program changes...deal with it...

    -Thanks

It appears that you changed the layout for the worse! This or the nature of your visitors changed.

Thats correct, but at companies, what types of spending are the first to go? Marketing is right up there, as is R&D. I can definately see the Board members of a company trimming 'web marketing' as one of the first things to strike out of the budget when they go though with their highlighters.

I use to market for a company for about two years, until the place went under. We did direct mail, billboards, radio, tv, flyers, etc. Internet marketing is the lowest advertising on the list. A company probably only spends about 10% of their marketing budget on internet advertising. But as companies realize how much internet marketing can effect, and help their business it will continue to increase...

Its not the economy if it were the economy google wouldnt be announcing record earings year over year on adsense.

Theres more people earning from adsense. Google has done a few things I don't agree with such as adsense for domains, turning adwords so its much more targeted towards google serps and premium 3rd party publishers all of which take money away from the little adsense publishers.

yeah man ive noticed that too... what ive noticed is that when google switched over to their new ad system (the system that man it so people had to click on the specific links instead of just the area in th ad), ctr and cpc dropped substantially. and the economy is also a big effector. its pretty pathetic. in the last 5 months, the traffic to my site has gone up 1000%, but the earnings have only gone up 25%. :( hopefully it will get better soon. we deserve better than this!

Though the number of clicks have gone down by 30%, revenue has gone down by 1000%. That's indeed very bad. Time to find other reveenue sources I guess

Its the economic conditions and coupled with too many publishers nowadays is the one driving the price down. But I still believe it will go up again, so I hang on to it.

I guess google adsense have modified their service a bit more. Now people can insert their adsense code to mobile/wap sites also :) Another good source to earn money for the wap site owners.
