Hi, I know that keywords are good for domains e.g. mykeyword.com but are say sub folders, forum boards etc just as strong?
Domain name helps, but not a lot! Having a targeted keyword in your domain name doesn't guarantee your site a high ranking. It all depends on your link strategies using your anchor text.
I don't know anything about SEO and I am still trying to learn bit by bit. Could you please tell me what is anchor text? Thanks.
Anchor text is a clickable text that is a link. It is a group of words describing the content of the linked page.
Keyword at sub part of the URL (something like mysite.com/keyword/keyword2.html) is beneficial but not as strong as it is in the domain name. Having keywords in your domain convey a few advantages: First, A keyword riched domain tells Google that the website is related about that particular keyword (hence the site stands a better chance to be ranked high); Secondly, it looks more natural when your inbound links are using your domain name (and in the same time your keywords) thus reduce the risk of your site being seen on the radar.
Keyword in url , either subdomain ,domain are important , subdirectory and file names also help , anchor text are equally important as other factors.
