Hi folks, The myth goes that you cannot embed a map into your Squidoo lens unless it is a US location. I'll show you that you can. Look at the attachment. Open your workshop. Open maps.google.com in another tab and find the location you need. Click "Send" near the top right corner. In the long sequence of yadda yadda you will find this bit that looks something like &sspn=48.374125,64.072266 Copy the numbers only and put a space after the comma as you paste it into your lens. Add a map module to your lens. In the field where it asks for an address, you indicate the longitude and latitude separated with comma AND a space. If you want to display "view larger map" link, go back to the maps.google and grab the iframe from sharing options ("Link" near top right corner). Paste the iframe into the "Give your module a description" field. Squidoo will strip unwanted parts and leave a neat link that your visitors can use. If you don't want this, leave that field empty. Leave the radio button to "basic" feature. Now click on Display Options tab and choose whether you will display it as a satellite image or a map. That's it, enjoy! If you wanna see this trick in action, go to tinyurl.com/dc4ezv Yeah, and don't forget to fave it if you like the lens and drop me a line or two Well, I hope you'll appreciate this. Let me know how you're getting on.
Nice tip - I'll be sure to pass this on to anyone who asks. (You might want post this to 'Tricks of the Trade' on the SquidU forum too)
Not too long. A couple of months, but I only recently started to be an active squid. I think it is not an extremely big thing, although, I have sold a couple of products through Squidoo and it's been a lot of fun (plus some nice backlinks). So, I'm hooked and I'll probably keep cooking up more lenses. What about you, Squidoodle?
Good useful tip, i didnt realize that squidoo introduced the gmap till few days ago.. i can see lots of sweet modules poppin up
