This is my first ebook and I have been online for ten years in the self help niche. have just announced my ebook to my lists of more than 8000 subscribers and offered ten people a free copy to review... What should I do next? How can I create buzz? How can I sell in advance of the launch? Any marketing ideas for me? How can I get others to promote the book? Help from someone with experience...
You are the help self guru, you should know (just kidding ) --- Get people to desire the stuff. Give them free samples/copies... (some parts of the book for free) Make several announcements. (Give other free stuff in between) Use affiliates. Have website.
Just a mad idea... Amazon Kindle. I know that people get their books published on the Kindle. I presume it is done through Amazon Advantage program. Maybe other folks have more info on this. Is there a unique approach or idea that makes you different from other pep-talkers? If there is, approach your local press, if you can make "your story" in a way that it touches other people in general, you will get featured. Journalists are very picky bet they know good stuff from bad one so all in all - chances of getting your story in a newspaper are quite good.
Create some buzz through social media too, head on over to twitter etc. and begin micro blogging about progress throughout the launch. Also JV's can become very lucrative.
Do a couple video's and talk about your product. Mass promote the video's with tube mogal. Get as many people to JV with you as you can. If you have a list of 8000, you can get a good amount of people to list swap adds with you.
You can offer to write a guest article for newsletter owners who are in your niche or a related niche. Include a link back to your website and possibly create an exclusive page where those readers can grab your book at a discount. You can also guest blog for other blogs if the owners are into it.
SEM. Send out your ebook free to prominent bloggers or pay for them to write reviews. Have someone do a video interview with you or create your own vid about the book. Chock it full of keywords and add it to You Tube Partners.

You are not going to get an avalanche of sales without an avalanche of advertising. If you want to make enough to at least pay your rent, you are going to have to advertise. ... Period.
OK, let's elaborate on this a bit. What are your suggestions? Banner ads on relevant blogs? PPC? Or maybe even ads in conventional media? I've personally tried conventional stuff and it worked quite well for me but then I'm in retail sector... it's different.
Kern is a brilliant. Still, if you regard Mass Control as a bullet-proof mechanism of selling more e-books (without selling as such, of course) you're just holding a stick by the wrong end. If you don't have a large list before you apply Mass Control, you'll end up selling your e-book to your cat. Firstly, you need a list and only secondly you need a system (Mass Control or any other system) and not the other way round. I see people committing this mistake over and over again... wakey wakey! What good's a ship if you ain't got a channel?
Launch it in the Warrior forum WSO first. This should get you going and sales will come as it consists of high quality buyers. you could sale many in record time
1. Run a WSO in the warrior forum - If its money / marketing related 2. Create a unique youtube video 3. Give away a free chapter of the eBook on forums 4. Have a special "pre-launch" discount sale 5. Hire a JV broker to recruit affiliates Just off the top of my head PS: don't forget to have a One Time Offer!!!
These are all really good ideas guys and thanks for them. I've done some of them and sold so far about 20 copies in the first three weeks... By the way, my book is called "self esteem secrets" if you want to take a look.. The core factor for success is self esteem so it's relevant for the business-minded not just self help crowd..
Leverage on your list... make them want it badly... Offer to them at a discounted price, recruit them as affiliates later. Why not give the product launch formula a try?
As someone mentioned earlier, I would give product launch formula a try. You can pick up a cheap copy on ebay. Well, not super cheap but cheaper than the regular price. I personally like plf over mass control
