Q - My host changed server

I just received an email from my host saying that they've just moved my files into a new server (faster) with other ip
When I try to locate server country by ip I get no results
My rankings still same after 3 days but traffic decreasead by 50-100 visitors a day

Any clarifications? How this comes?

 

from what locations were you getting the visitors???if they were from the same country where your site was initially hosted then the traffic must have decreased because of:
1) new IP is in a new country
2) your maximum visitors were coming from that location via search engine like Google as it counts the IP when delivering the result.

use Google Webmaster tool to define the geographic area you want to target

 

My hosting company has moved my website from US server to India server.
However, I don't see any effect on traffic and ranking.

 

to locate country by server IP you would need to use a professional database - no hobby db
hence to get IP location you would use something like
http://www.maxmind.com/app/locate_ip

for more help it makes sense to give site name - that avoids guessing and waste of time.
to have a server in India only would make sense if your content is targeted toward surfers FROM India or India's direct neighbor hood
else if you target the world, a server IN India always has slower access times because more hops / longer distance TO the world than serfer in EU or US
