5 Ways To Optimize Your DP Signature To Get More Traffic!

Have you ever wondered how you can generate more traffic to your blog/websites using DP signature area? I have wondered that myself for awhile now and finally found a few ways to optimize it. It took a bunch of trial and error but here are a few points I came up with that have help me generate traffic to my blogs:

    1. Install Google Analytics
You have to have Google Analytics installed on your websites to be able to optimize your DP signature. Without having it installed you cannot tell where the traffic is going. So once you have Analytics installed on your websites what you do is login and go to Traffic Source > forums.digitalpoint.com (referral) > looks for Dimension: and select Landing Page instead of Referral Path. In here you can tell exactly where all your traffic is coming from DP. So if you have say 3 keywords in your signature and they all link to different pages on your blog you can tell which keywords get clicked on more then others. This is very important in choosing which keywords to put in your signature.

    2. Create Threads with useful information
You need to create threads with useful information for people to notice your signature. If all you do is respond to other peoples threads with your 2 cents which isn't that exciting and useful like "thanks" you aren't going to have people noticing your signature. You need to start threads that people liek and lots of people will view. They are then more likely to view your signature and click on your links.

    3. Make the keywords in you signature catchy / interesting
People have a very short attention span so you need to grab their attention quickly. So if you have a very interesting keyword in your signature they are more likely to click on it then pass it by. If they can live without clicking on it then you haven't chosen the right keyword.

    4. Make the keywords in your DP signature colorful
People like colors! They will notice it a lot more if it has colors and is bold. If it just blends in with the rest of the posts in the thread it doesn't stick out and therefore will not get clicked. Play with the appearance of the DP signature and make sure it stands out so people will see it right off the bat!

    5. Formatting is important
In addition to above you need to make sure the formatting is good. You can play with alignment (centered / right aligned / left aligned). You can play with adding in smiley faces or other emoticons to see if that helps. You can play with underlines, *, !, etc to help grab the readers attentions.

So hopefully this list will help you optimize your DP signatures so you get the traffic you are looking for to your blog/website!

I assume my signature is not bad because I'm getting a lot of traffic
from DP. Fearing that DP would ask for a commission I won't given the figures.

Yup if you are checking the stats for your website and can see a lot of traffic coming in from DP Forums then you are doing it right.

I actually clicked on your signature before to take a look at it because you had an interesting tagline. Good work!

Yes, you do have an attractive Signature Link Title and that's because it really makes the reader say "WoW".
Even I clicked on the link to see what it was. Great work.

I would say your formatting and color is great but the keywords need a little bit of work. I think they need to popout a bit more to grab peoples attention. Have you analyzed if you are getting traffic from those links in your signature? That would be the starting point before you start changing up your signature.

Yup you should consider optimizing it. I change mine up every week or so to make sure I am getting the most traffic from my signature.

What do you mean Tag clouds is a nice tip to follow? You don't have tag clouds in your DP signature.

Your welcome. There is a ton of features in there that people overlook that are very helpful. I try to take a look around it every once in awhile to see if Google added any new features. Just like how they added a new feature to Adsense where you can select different fonts now!

    Good work...
...and Thank You for not trying to sell this as an e-book. :)
DP seems to have enough e-books already.

    Are you sure?
I get distracted and never noticed. :p

No problem. I don't see the point in all these E-books. I am sure I could write one too but I'd rather give out my research and information for free. People like it a lot better that way :)

As for getting distracted ... you know you do it :p You just don't even realize it. It seems like everyone has a little problem with staying focused on the Internet. I know I do.

Thanks for the Rep! Glad to hear you liked my points.

    Green rep :)

I was actually thinking about this yesterday.

In addition to these 2 points-

I have a blog with feedburner on the blog, with all the stats tracking there. Somehow i was getting 25 hits every 24hours from dp. Feedburner has merged with G Analytics now anyway..

[is 25hits daily from dp good ?]
