WTF!!! - House Democrats Propose NEW $410B Pork Spending Bill

Discussion in 'Politics & Religion' started by bogart, Feb 24, 2009.

House Democrats have proposed a new $410 billion spending bill on Monday which includes an increase of roughly 8 percent over spending in the last fiscal year and thousands of earmarks.

Home Democrats blame the increased spending on George Bush

Wasn't the $1 Billion stimulus spending enough? :(

    Suck it up Bogey!!!

Its going to be that way until such time as those who willingly, freely, and with unbridled glee, put the foxes in charge of the hen house (as well as elected the most inexperience President in U.S. History; with absolutely no leadership ability), come to the pathetically sad realization that. . .awww, who the heck am I fooling?

THEY'RE NEVER GOING TO ADMIT TO MAKING A MISTAKE of that Magnitude!!!

I haven't heard anything about this. Watched the news this morning and, funny, no mention of this whatsoever.

So is this more money ON TOP of the stimulus bills we already have? Or does this actually spend some of that money already allocated? If they want even MORE money, then they are more retarded than I first thought....

Bogart I don't know that much about politics, but isn't this just a routine spending bill that's passed all the time to allocate money for the government? If so, what is the point of this thread?

The spending is more than routine when you add it to the $1 trillion 'stimulus' spending package and all the bailouts.

How can the US afford to spend money like a drunken sailor without inflation running out of control?

Who says the free lunch is over?

Democrats are not "getting revenge" on the Republicans - uh, totally "changing" the way the government works.

Just kidding - they're spending and cutting taxes and running up more debt! If anything has changed, its what's on the menu for the free lunch.

Unfortunately, this means we have a few more years of economic contraction before anything resembling a real solution comes through. I hope everyone's bunkered down with their online business! (And possibly with regard to food supplies, as well.)

Maybe Barry will get lucky like Bubba Clinton did and there will be some economic bubble that will well up despite what he is doing. Bubba had both the 125% mortgage bubble and the dot com bubbles. And with any luck the burst will happen close enough to the end of his term that the media can keep it hush hush lie the dot com meltdown was during the 2000 election season.

Oh and by the way, it's not called pork, it's called investing.

The dot com bubble was the mother of all bubbles.

Most likely the payroll/self-employment tax is going to be raised to cover up to 250k. When you include federal income tax, state income taxes, sales taxes, sin taxes etc, the tax rate is going to increase to 70%+

Obama is planning to spend an additional $275 billion on mortgage bailout and has a new $657 billion healthcare plan that will cost at least 1 trillion. Even if you took every cent from people that earned more than $250k, you couldn't pay for it.

He is supposed to be speaking some time this morning about his new $3 trillion budget! I don't see this cut in spending like every wanted the Bush Administration to do.

And even more scary is the "Cap and Trade" energy scheme that Obama and Pelosi are throwing around. It would essentially increase the tax on all kinds of energy making it even harder to fill the tank or heat your home. We received about $400/year in tax breaks so far, but this tax increase on energy could cost us $4,000 a year out of our pocketbooks. It would also raise $2 a gallon gas to about $3.50 - $5! Doesn't make sense to me.

And to top that off, we have MASSIVE assaults on our rights as well. The UN wants to make blasphemy of ANY religion illegal, so nobody can say anything negative or against religion. That's an assault on our First Amendment rights. And don't even get me started on Eric Holder. He basically wants to make it so only government run militia groups are the ONLY people allowed to carry guns. Say bye bye to the Second Amendment as well.

We're in for change all right. What are we going to do when the government owns everything and takes away our rights?

Interestingly enough, embedded in this $410 Billion bill is a provision to stockpile funds for the implementation of "healthcare reform."

So far at least, the economy is in better shape than the 1981-1982 recession. During the 81-82 recession GDP dropped to -6.2 and unemployment peaked at 10.2%

Unemployment hasn't even hit 8% and we are spending trillions.

Obama beat McCain with voters making over $200,000. So I guess you get what you ask for.

The latest Obama plan is to eliminate the mortgage deduction for people making more than 200k.
