in my blog Bounce Rate is very high. I have near about 160 post in my blog. How to engage people. I also made a most popular link list at the bottom of the blog.

How many links of post can we put at the sidebar of the blog ?
and how many outgoing link can we put at the home page.

you blog is covering many topics at the same time.moreover, the content is not updated and last of all and most importantly, you have Google Ad Sense ads occupying positions on the page which distract the user

Content and traffic quality would be factors which effect bounce rate. If most of your traffic is coming from the search engines then you need to look at how you can improve your site. Visitors are obviously not sticking around long enough.

While your site will get Organic traffic then automatically your site bounce rate will decrease.

Post Unique contents in your site.

you can use google's website optimizer facility lets you test how well a particular page performs compared to another. So that you can test the pages with higher bounce rate. You can get idea of the user behavior for that page.

People come in to a blog that has no certain topic, then they leave

Try to choose a topic and stick to it... that way when people some to your site they will want to read more. If you don't focus on a specific niche you risk having people lose interest quickly.

Having a list of most popular or interesting blog posts of your blog in a VERY prominent position on your blog helps draw visitors deeper into your blog.

Realize this, the point of SEO is to give the user exactly what they're looking for. If you succeed in that, your bounce rate will be low. Look at your stats and identify what keywords they are using to find you, and if you are in fact giving them what they're looking for. It's very important. Many people focus on how many unique visitors you get a day, but in reality if it's not quality traffic then it's useless. I would rather have 100 visitors a day with a 30% bounce rate than more visitors with a higher bounce rate.

If you have Google analytics look at your stats for just the search engine keywords, then look at your bounce rate for keywords from Google, Yahoo and MSN (separately)

There has been some talk about Google using bounce rate as a factor in the future. I honestly hope they do because it's a good indication of a quality site.

If you are referring to the blogs in your signature your problem is that they are both a spamtastic - ad laden mess. No one is going to read either one of those and there is really nothing to read but google ads anyway.

Sorry if that was harsh but those sites are a disaster.
