I started my blog 1 and half month ago and now I have about 1000 unique visitors aday, but my alexa rank is very high 2,066,000. That is a huge different compared to my friend's blog he made in 2007 that has 400 unique visitors aday and his alexa rank is 150,000. Whats wrong with my alexa?
I think the public number is a 3 month average. My blog is 1.4 million for 3 months (and the public figure), but it's 400,000 for the last week
alexa rank is determined by the ammount of people that visit your site with the alexa bar on the web browser... Ive had this same problem, the people who visit your site simply dont have the alexa bar... Nothing you can really do. it sucks
I agree that alexa ranking has little relevance since majority of the people do not use it to benchmark the popularity of the websites.... But it can be manipulated?? I am not sure on this... Regards, RightMan
yes it can be easily manipulated...it gives the information collected from the users using alexa toolbar. begin using the alexa toolbar and ask all of your friends to use it too and everyday do visit your site, you will notice the change
According to Alexa "Alexa computes traffic rankings by analyzing the Web usage of millions of Alexa Toolbar users and data obtained from other, diverse traffic data sources." So Alexa rankings all depends on the nature of visitors and their browsers. If most of the visitors are using Alexa widget, your rankings will go up. I would suggest you not to worry about alexa rankings, it could easily manipulated. It doesn't show exact level of popularity and it is also not that significant that people thinks about it..
1000 unique visitors daily in less than 2 months? Heck, forget Alexa just keep it up ... if your blog has nothing to do with webmasters, it'll always have low Alexa but who cares
dont worry about alexa rank. alexa ranking is different than google ranking. you will get traffic and actual ranking only by google so no need to worry about alexa ranking.
It depend on the visitor that using alexa ranking tool bar. So, certain niche such as webmaster or web developing website will have advantage on alexa ranking, since those are the population using alexa tools, normal internet user wouldnt use it. Alexa ranking is not important, my website is now going to 21k, but only 100~200 visitors
It depends on the website or blog topic. The webmaster/seo website/blog get more advantage in alexa ranking. One of the best way to increase your ranking is put your website in the signature link and participate in some popular webmaster forums regularly.
There are many misconceptions here about Alexa. Alexa is updated far more often than every 3 months. While it used to give you a daily ranking with a weekly and 3 month average, it is now updated less often--a couple times a week. Your 3 month average is not a good way to compare sites unless they are 6mo or more old. I like to compare 1 week average for newer sites. Alexa used to be easy to manipulate, but since 2007 has become much more accurate. The best way to make "apples to apples" comparisons is to compare two sites in the same market niche. The one with the lower Alexa gets proportionally more traffic than the one with the higher Alexa. Now to the OP: You mentioned your "new" blog is getting 1,000 unique visitors a day. Where did you get that statistic? Where is your traffic coming from? What is the average time on site? All of these things might be important in finding why your site has a high Alexa.
I got my statistic from sitemeter, histats, and extreemtracking. All of them said I have above 1k uv. 5 days ago my visitor was 400 uv aday, but then it jump to almost 1500 uv now. this is because one of my image i posted is indexed in the first page of google image search. On the other hand, the good organic visitor I usually received now in the previous days is gone. I used to get 400 good organic visitor aday without the google image search. Now I can see that almost 99% of the visitor come from google image search. this is really pissed me off. Also, before the huge jump, My blog used to own the keywords "anggun c sasmi biography" on the top first page, but now is gone. Anyone help me.. what is really going on with google.. I'd rather have 400 uv aday that came from goole, not google image search.
