Adsense for niche blogs. Pointless?

I keep a blog about a niche hobby, and I put adsense on the site (because it didn't cost me anything to try). It's not especially prominent and has only yielded a few dollars in the time I've had the adverts up.

Being a niche blog, the visitor counter is never gonna be amazing, but also being a niche the people viewing the blog are quite clued up on the subject and the ads probably aren't going to be clicked.

I don't blog for income, I blog for fun, but am I better off getting rid of adsense, maybe looking for a relevant sponsor or not having any ads at all.

    any help appreciated.

I'd continue what you are doing. Get more visitors by adding more content about your hobby. You are in a position to do this very well since you KNOW the topic yourself and can contribute something that like-minded people will want to read.

Add content, consider in the future maybe developing it into a more traditional website on it's own domain. Get your visitors up and the earnings will increase. You will be able to maintain momentum on the site a lot easier than someone who has lost interest in his pregnant lawyers MFA site.
