How to increase Alexa traffic dramatically?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by waikoloa, Feb 22, 2009.

I have noticed a lot of sites that their traffic has increased dramatically has come within one month and the traffic has come from google for the same search term from India. How is this happening considering on google they do not show up on the first ten pages for that search term? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

maybe they are ranked high from a different data center, they tend to have different search results for each data center

their alexa and compete rankings went up. They typically get about 10,000 hits/month and in this certain month they got 1 million hits. At that same time they shot up the google charts. They have stayed up there even though the traffic dropped right after that month. I am guessing it was a bought traffic campaign, but I am just trying to figure out which one since it worked.

It is possibly to get lots of traffic quickly using web 2.0 sites.

For example our domain (link in signature) has an alexa ranking of around 47,000 and has been getting more and more traffic since we registered in 6 months ago.

If you know what you are doing you can drive massive traffic to a website without using these types of services (e.g. paying for massive traffic). You can do it for free.

Web 2.0 is the main focus we use to drive traffic.

    Cheers

why do people care so much about a stupid alexa rank > LOOK to the right, you see my join date 2006, 6500+ posts.

Listen up.....forget alexa, forget all that bullshit. Write about WHAT you know, the web is all ABOUT: LATENT SEMANTIC INDEXING now......meaning in short, if you "know" your topic, you will get a better page score then most people.

For instance, If I was an "apple grower" I could write an article about apples and because I was a grower I would know the terms that only a grower knows as well as mention different types of apples with ease.

The search engines are way way way, smarter then you think and they border line on A.I.. Hire writers that specialize the the exact field, this is also a great time by the way if you have the money to lay out, as so many people here in America are now un employed, and need work and will write for you.

OR if you are un employed reading this yourself and maybe not even a digitalpoint member ( guests can read this forum). start a blog today and write "what you know" and you will make money.

Latent Semantic Indexing......look it up if you don't believe me .........

Anyhow. take it or leave it,.......that's my opinion.......

In general I would agree, but alexa can be a good guide to traffic a domain is getting.

Of couse it is flawed because it's only a sample of visitors who happen to be running the alexa toolbar on their computers, so the results can be skewed.

For example, I have around 11,000 followers in twitter, so when I make a post in twitter, I get hundreds of people clicking the link, LSI does not help there. But relevance is, because have followed me to find out about seo/web 2.0, and they assume (rightly) that I almost always post about these subjects.

You don't need to use LSI to get web traffic, two completely different things, although I am a firm believer in relevance and you make a good point about that.

    Cheers

    Thanks for all the thoughts!
Sundaybrew. I do agree with you in the fact that Alexa is stupid. There are obviously ways to work around it. It would be good if it was possible for it to measure your relevant traffic.
I do think that Google does look at traffic (alexa, compete, or others). I think it then plays a big pretty large factor when you have two sites with similar optimization (links, and on page).

    Tim,
What exactly is web 2.0? I will look it up now.

Alexa isn't that hard to achieve, just keep working at it... IMO it is useless unless you have a matching compete ranking in the eyes of Advertisers, something to consider.
