Please review, maybe suggestions? for my latest website

    Hi DP!

    http://www.movie-critic.net

This is a latest creation that I wanted to make. I really enjoy movies (who doesn't?) and a few friends decided we should put together a movie review site. Well, I figured if we were going to do that, it had to be more than that as well!

So I configured it to have the core, movie reviews, and I tweaked the script out a little bit. I also added in News from TMZ and AOL on the front page, they automatically generate when they update. The slideshow is for articles that we write. The reviews have basic movie info, a trailer, and an Amazon referral link.

It also has a community module, so people can sign up and have a profile if they'd like too.

But, I feel that there is just something missing, no? Maybe the content on the front page needs more pictures? Or some movie stats? Something else to give the site a better feel. Anyone have some suggestions?

    Thanks!

Mrdo, you mean the review background? The gradient, that is broken when the review is longer/ Yeah, I have to get into photoshop and make it bigger, just havent gotten around to it yet. Also I think on the front page the Top rated movies is broken to, another photoshop issue I have to get to fixing. Thanks!

    Looks good, but you wanted pointers, so;

I'd dump the grey colors (for blue and yellow probably)..

I'd move the titles for boxes "login", "genres", etc, to be INSIDE their parent container.

Thanks! I think you are mentioning the "Date" and +- Font size text. But I am not sure, they should be on a colored background and are showing up for me. Which browser are you in? Great input, gotta fix those bugs!

    Thanks again :)

Well, yes, that's why I came to DP to try and spur some ideas. Do you have any after reviewing it? Maybe different news or something?

Ok, yeah I can see the blue / yellow colors working with the template, but I don't want people too distracted by the design and concentrate more on the content. I'll have to test out with blue/yellow variants and opacity to find a good fit/

You don't like the titles of the boxes aligned like that? I specifically have them just extending a little outside the edges of the boxes, they act as indicators for the viewers eye so that they know another module or source of info is present. Inside the box and it would be too flush, they would get overlooked more often than not by the viewer. Any comments on that methodology? You can see that the content in the middle, their titles are inside the box though, once they look over there it doesnt need the same indicator as the modules on the left/right.

What about a request a movie review section? This way people can suggest a movie they want and the critics can review it?

Thanks, I'll have to start putting that together then!

    I appreciate the compliment! Thanks

Glad to hear the loading time was better, Godaddy is such a crappy hosting.

Colors are mixed up! I like website header very much! But news block is not well-structured! I don't like empty spaces on the left and right sides of a website! The main Ads by Google block doesn't also suite a website well! It is also important to create a good logo for a website!

I do not know about others, but in my browser (firefox 3.0.6) the website is wide so I need to scroll it sideways to see the things on the right side.

In my opinion also, you better focus to a movie review
