If you want to invest on blogging first and then start - then opt for the following::

    # Register a domain
    # Buy a hosting
    # Installing wordpress script and a soothing template for your niche
    Then Start your blogging career.

Other way if you dont have to invest:
    # Go to any of the free blogging sites such as blogger.com and register for free and start blogging instantly.

Its up to you how you want to start... but before going through both of the above points for free or paid - you need to decide that what are you good at - i mean to say at which niche you are more off contributing

    Hope this helps...

I agree with the suggestions of infogle, and may i add only start one at first and build it up, dont try and manage a load, its time consuming if you have too many.

Thank you for the suggestions. I already have domain and I have hosting with b2evolution blog already installed. I just haven't figured out how to start. I just finished writing an ebook on how to start writing an ebook. Maybe I should start with that? Then do I just continue with that subject til I start a new project?
    Thanks,
    Denise

Ahhh. As you know how to write its no more difficult for you to blogging :D

Now just try to add as many as unique and useful contents at your blog and promote it through submissions at various blog directories as well web directories, social bookmarking sites etc.

First, you have to decide which topic that you are going to blog about, and then choosing for the best blogging platform and theme for your blog. Once started, get it listed to search engines.

Thanks again..so many helpful people in here. Sometimes my head gets so filled with ideas I just don't seem to know where to start. I do host the blog on my own site. Should I start my blog with a welcome article then go into different categories as I am working on different projects. Right now I am working on affiliate marketing but I am also working on a medical project with a friend. I gotta tell you I enjoy the excitement all this work generates. But it would be nice to get it off the ground. Do ya know what I mean?

All blogs deserve a fresh start, so I strongly suggest you make a welcome post. Since you are into affiliate marketing, you can talk about the products you are selling, your personal experiences about them, recommendations, as well as why should the readers buy the products.

    Hope that helps.

Well, I think the best tool you'll need is "hard work" don't forget to enjoy what you are doing.. just take your time.

Installed b2evolution blog on my site. Word Press is also available. Which is best? I checked and b2evolution can have multiple blogs where word press can not.
    Thanks, Denise
    PS working on welcome post

the most important thing is the niche you choose, any micro niche is good, dont go for the general one

One thing I would suggest is sit down for an hour and try to make a huge list of topics in the niche that you choose to write on. This will help in 2 ways.
    1) If you run out of ideas within 10 minutes and can't get much further you might want to reevaluate if you will be able to keep writing on the topic for an extended period of time.
    2) It will give you a huge list of post ideas that you can use for future blog posts.

    A second idea:
Pre-write 2 weeks worth of blog posts and.. don't use them unless you have to. This will also give you 2 benefits for your blog.
    1) It will get you fully into that writing mood so your used to having to write a lot of content.
    2) On days where you are busy (that whole non-Internet life responsibility we all have to partake in) you DO have content you can just click post on and call it a day.

I agree with Civin - it helps to plan ahead. Don't be put off by the fact that you will get next to no traffic initially.
