How to Make Money on Facebook?

I wonder how do people make money on Facebook? I'm quite new to FB, but I noticed that there are some ads showing on the right. I already have 100+ friends and I wonder if it works this way:

the more people view your FB page, the more money you can make from the ads displayed on your profile?

Does it work that way? Or is it something like G Adwords = you just need some budget for advertising and then if you spend it wisely and have a good product to market (e.g. an ebook), can that work?

It can :) But ebook is not good example here )
Actually, I remember a funny period when they've just added this feature of publishing ads and there was no proper moderation for them. It really worked than :)

Anyway, the good thing about facebook ads - an amazing targeting, it is very useful for some products.

If you know programming you can create your applications
Then you can display ads on those applications

Thx guys all for your replies! I thought I can make money on Facebook in a way something like G AdSense works - that I would offer the space for ads on the right of my FB profile to the advertisers and FaceBook would pay me for that...

Is that possible somehow? If yes, I wonder how do I start?

The ads are automated and appear to the right on everyone's profile you look at... they do not just stick on your own for other people to see. FB ads can work well with CPA offers. I think people on facebook are generally not looking to buy products so clickbank is a bit of a waste (who knows though, times may change). I would market something fun and entertaining as this is the reason why people go on fb.

It's not like adsense but is more like adwords in a way but related to people's profiles.

OKay, I think I'm going to try advertising my own affiliate website and I think it could work - I have an idea. I just have some questions before I start:

    - how do I pay for my FB advertising campaigns? Can I pay by Paypal? Or CC only?

    - how it is with the price - how much will one click on my ad cost me and what it depends of?

Thx in advance for Ur replies!

This won't answer your new questions, but just wanted to point out that creating facebook apps (and monetizing them one way or another) is said to be pretty lucrative: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=8743457343 (mob wars) is said to generate decent bucks (saw Techcrunch mentioning them "few days ago" - can't find the link now.)

Try it mate, on facebook... Although, I strongly believe that people generally don't go on to facebook to buy things, I have tried this before but who knows, maybe I had the wrong product! I personally think you're better aiming entertainment cpa offers at them like a Napster offer where you get 10 free music downloads etc... you know, be creative.

I think it is CC only. I don't think FB costs that much. The most I paid was $0.70/ click and the least was $0.20. But again, depends on your audience and what you're targeting! Best thing to do to find out is give it a go yourself mate... just put a little money like $5 in at first. I'm sure there were some vouchers floating about at one point... Try this http://www.moneymakingscoop.com/blog/790/facebook-ads-voucher-worth-100/ or just search facebook ads voucher but I apologise if it's not valid anymore but I have definately used it in the past!

Good luck and I hope you are hugely profitable

This is pretty good stuff. I have some good affiliates on my website but who I am targeting is highly niche. Basically fans of the female fighting, female wrestling, female combat niche. I'm not sure too many people are there on facebook yet that are open about these interests so keyword targeting could be tough.

    Any ideas?

You can test market first such as open a group to discuss about your niche.
If you get many people join the group, then it show a good sign to buy advert and start promote your product
