Hey there, Which one of these URLs is better? view-product-profile.cfm?product=30%20Gal%20Better%20Rain%20Barrel%20Kit view-product-profile.cfm?product=30 Gal Better Rain Barrel Kit Might be a stupid question but I thought I'd ask Sincerely, Travis Walters
both the URLs are same. actually %20 signifies the space between words in the URL. they need not to be placed but are appended automatically. to avoid this you can either do away with the space or can use hyphens or underscore
if possible then use this type of your url like view-product-profile.cfm?product=30-Gal-Better-Rain-Barrel-Kit this is very benefit for website. if you add your keywords in this type of url that is very helpful to improve your ranking.
Hey there, Thats the reason I wanted to product name in the URL - more keywords! Google AdSense picked up on this right away. However, I just wanted to make sure Google would pick up on keywords if the spaces were in there. I guess if they do not, I can always code around it and put hyphens or underscores. Sincerely, Travis Walters
Most definitely you want to change it so you are using underscores. also if there were a way to build your pages to do like a mod rewrite so that it segregated everything into folders that would be even better - however this depends on what sort of CMS you are using
I wouldnt go for either of them I would go for yoursite.com/gal_better_rain_barrel_kit.htm Thats the perfect URL
-'s are the way to go as underscores are sometimes ignored. i.e. product_name is viewed as productname whereas product-name is viewed as product name. Ideally it is better to utilize directories only, but that is another topic.
