Hi, I was just wondering what peoples views are on blogs versas websites interms of which are the most SEO friendly? I like blogs because they are free and you don't have a webmaster wanting to charge you each time you want to tweak it, add a page or plug in. However, are there any trade offs and downsides to a blog. Jimbob
They are both different animals. IMO you have to use them together for success. I would say that overall blogs maybe slightly more SEO friendly, but websites are your foundation of information.
A website with a good CMS can give you the best of both with better SEO than a blog. It really depends on what you plan to do with your site. If blogging is your intention, then use a blog. If you've got a commercial or informative website with lots of content, use a CMS. A CMS enables you to organize your content in both an SEO & user-friendly way, while a blog typically throws all of your links into a single column. Heck, do both if part of your aim is to create a loyal blog-commenting cult.
Both websites and blogs are good. Everything it depends on the person who is managing them. However I prefer websites. Here the possibilities are endless
Use them oth in one site is ideal, et the blog to drive indexing and another source of inbound relevant traffic.
Blogs are more SEO friendly than regular websites. There are so many easy tweaks and plug ins for blogs that they are easy to do on site SEO. If you are interested in PR, I have found it easier to get higher PR with a website than a blog with equal amount of work. I prefer blogs for the ease of use and the ease of changing things and adding new pages. I started out with regular websites and they are great but unless you are good at coding, you have to have someone do everything for you. With blogs, anyone can use them and add cool features and addition without any coding knowledge.
SEO is easy on Blog like wordpress, but Website are great for professional built and do seo easily if codingare imple and proper.
I prefer blogs are user as well as SEO friendly as they are cached well and especially google loves blogs. I have 2 blogs and they are running well, get cached regularly as well as gets PR faster than site. Therefore if any one is looking forward for money making then they should go for blogs. See ya
It depends how you optimize the blog. You could set up a blog with only pages (no comments), and a number of SEO related plugins and make it look just like any usual site.
Wp blogs for example are pretty good for SEO, and then there's handful of plugins you should get. That'll make them to be on the "professional level" in terms of seo.
It really depends how they're coded. Some people make a website and its code sucks, so it's not really SEO friendly - Wordpress is better. On the other hand, some people code a website that it's 100% SEO friendly and it's better than WP.
If the question is SEO, I’ll definitely go for blogging. I’m using free blogspot blog and posting in it twice/thrice a week only. All pages of my blog indexed properly by Google and it is already getting hits from Google search. In my case, I’m getting far more better result than my website I had previously. I’ve also used wordpress blog, it was excellent and search engine friendly as well. But due to the bad service of my domain-hosting provider, I had to close both of that sites. Now I’m comfortable with blogspot, it’s free, faster, and reliable, no headache .
website pro: completely adaptable, but this is also the disadvantage. blog pro: (I'm talking about wordpress here): - hundreds / thousands of (free) themes you can choose - easy to switch themes - almost just as adaptable as a website with some constraints - lots of plugins available - easy to set up, seo out-of-the-box (wordpress) - can be made almost as fast as a normal website (wp supercache plugin), but this requires a webhost that supports this. I have bluehost by the way. - auto notifying all kinds of sources that you have new content (builtin "pinging" ) blog contra: - You need a webhost that supports wordpress, costs you around $6,95 / month.
I have both but I think websites have less limitations, plus you can add a "blog page" or journal or whatever it is you want on your website anyway.
i like blogging and blogs with worpress and blogs are more faster than websites and we and other can comment on articles written by me or other...
