    Which "hills"?
I grew up in the Dandenongs (in the 80s). It's a small world up there :)

Sorry, I should have read your previous posts :p The smoke must be seeping into my brain... Maybe some of those burning crops in Healesville are sending THC into the atmosphere.

It's devastating to see such wide spread loss to lives and nature...........culprits must be punished to the maximum extent as such damages are mostly irreperable.

Very sad images and stories coming out of this. But with it are very brave people and some who survived through sheer luck. The support channels have been excellent too. It's only little comfort for most, but it is some comfort.

The crazy thing is that most ppl had no warning about the fires, they were unaware that anything was heading to them.

So most ppl did not stand a chance when the fires got near their towns.

There was very touching video footage on chanel 7 last night of a family right in the middle of the fires, huddled in between 2 water tanks with 2 small children. Everything around them was burnt, but the father was joyous as he zoomed in on his family huddled under wet blankets, and he said "And here is all that matters, and they survived" Beautiful story of survival and man whome can put things in perspective, he didn't care that they had lost everything else.

Yeah I saw that :) Very quick thinking to have considered using them as a "hiding spot" from the fires. I'm not sure I would have thought of it under the circumstances.

For me and my family it was a close call, since we were gonna move to KingLake which was one of the major places that got burnt and we where going to buy the general store over there but things lead to another and we decided not to buy the shop.

I just heard yesterday that not a single brick has been left standing from the shop, but thank God the owners where able to run away.

So yeah, me and my family where very close to be in the middle of this nightmare.

The person or people that did this deserve to be put to death, those sickos.

    It's on again.
Fires in Daylesford, 250 hectares heading north east (directly towards me).
I'm going to pack the car now.
    Current fire map here.

I have heard about sitepoint, a website selling 5 e-books, the money from the sale of which will go as an aid for bushfire victims...A noble work indeed.!!:)

How's it going down there now? At least people are leaving their homes this time. Stay safe!

It all starts to get very real when you see the local CFA tanker hiking it out of town towards the fires.

People are finally starting to realise that standing up to a bushfire with a garden hose (or even a generator and pump) is stupid.

Although I'm still relatively safe at the moment, my car is packed, and my keys are in my pocket :)
