Ok. Here it goes. I've been lurking and reading on this forum for the past few weeks, becoming fascinated with the prospect of making money online. I'm just not sure what i should actually go about DOING. First, I am very knowledgable about fitness (bodybuilding, powerlifting, fat loss, muscle building), nutrition, etc. and that is a passion of mine. So my idea was to write an original e-book about the topic, for example "The secret to getting six pack abs" or something along those lines. I would sell it for cheap, even $1, just seeing that people were actually buying it would make it worth it. So the general idea is (correct my if im wrong)... -write the ebook -create and host a sales page asking "have you always wanted to be in shape?" etc etc and drawing the reader in -creating a way at the bottom for the reader to buy said ebook -reader will never go to site in the first place unless I do SEO.. now ive read about adwords, basically paying for traffic, is that my best bet? I guess my question is how does one take a brand new website that is not even on search engines and start sending traffic to it and making money? (my biggest problems right now are i have NO capital, enough to buy a domain or something but thats it, bank account is at -$160) sorry if this is a confusing post, but i am just so completely confused and overwhelmed.. ive been on the computer pretty much every day the past week reading about this stuff on digitalpoint and other sites, staying up til 4 in the morning, etc (literally like 8 + hours a day)..
That is just a typical process of making an ebook. If you dont want to do SEO, here's some of my suggestions to promote your products: 1) Promote in in the same topic forum. Ofcourse people will go to that site and if it is interested they will buy it. Put the link in the forum signature and start posting. 2) Do Youtube Marketing. Upload some (or a lot is much more better) videos about your topic into youtube. Dont forget to insert the links to your site into that video description. 3) Use twitter. Add more and more friends in it. Then do a lot of tweets about it. 4) Start your own blog. But this also need SEO. Write things that realted about that ebook, drive traffics to that blog and start promote your ebook. 5) Submit your site at social bookmarking site such as Digg & Delicious. 6) Write an article about your topics. Do it a lot and submit it to various of article directories such as ezine.com. Insert your ebook products website link into the article. It will be promoted naturally & automatically. That is some of ways for me to promote my site without doing any SEO. Esp for new sites. But still, SEO is the big game for a lot of massive targeted traffics
If you have no money, start with a free blog on blogspot.com [Buy a .info domain for it if you can]. Give fitness and nutrition tips and advice in your blogposts. Put a paypal donate button on your blog and mention that anyone who donates X$ will get a copy of your ebook sent to his email. See this. http://bloggertricks.com/2008/05/how-to-add-paypal-donate-button-to-your.html Don't forget to plug your ebook in your blog posts. You can promote your blog by posting in fitness forums [With blog as sig link] and through the methods mentioned in the above post.
Being overwhelmed and experiecing information overload is common. So make sure that you identify what you should be working on, and then focus on it. One of the side effects to having a creative mind is the fact that creative minds tend to wander...... that is just my two cents...
You sound very excited to get started and I would just recommend that you spend a little more time on research and do not try to run before you can walk an active mind tends to keep producing more and more ideas before the first one is even complete so take your time with it and enjoy seeing your plan form.
Whilst we're on the subject does anyone have any methods that they use to organise everything? I must admit, this is a trap that I sometime fall into, becuase of my idea generating mind. It gets to the point that sometimes I wish I could switch off - I literally wake up with ideas....
Thanks for the replies guys. To the second poster... I DO want to do SEO, I am just overwhelmed and dont know where to get started. My dad said he would help me out by paying for the first domain. He also has a web server and said he would host site(s) for free. Like I am on the computer all the time and spend most of it reading/learning, but I want SOMETHING to get done, like spend my time more productively, you know? So would something i can "work" on... be making blog posts, forum posts, making networking connections, etc? Can anyone PM me some good links/sites/free reading material that helped you to get started/made you have a "ah hah!' moment? It would be greatly appreciated.
You can start a blog about the topics that you are interested with ie. bodybuilding, powerlifting, fat loss, muscle building, nutrition... For start you can create a free account on blogger or any blog platform that allows adsense... Do not forget to link build it like what the other posters advised you to do... Once you earn some money from your blog by you now have the capital to get your own domain and maybe get a decent hosting or you can still stick to blogger... There are also tons of free website templates out there so you do not have to hire someone to make you one... good luck...
im really good with photoshop and css/html and can make my own templates pretty decently. how do i go about "link building"? as far as i read there is not much money to be made by blogging? is it a reasonable goal to try to earn $10 a week within a month of starting?
That the normal route to get traffic. What you can do is submit as much as link to directory and blog commenting. This will help you rank better in search engine. Don't worry about the debt.I have once own bank and loan shark total up to $500k but now already settle it.
You have to monetize your blog and find out what methods work for you [Selling products and ebooks, affiliate marketing, Adsense, Chitika etc]. With enough time, effort and learning, you can earn 10$/month and much more. When setting goals, set easy goals initially [Like 1$ in a week]. So you can get rolling and taste the satisfaction of goal achievement. Then you can occasionally set goals that seem way above your abilities. You may surprise yourself [By achieving them].
Even if you have money to build your domain it would also be good to start a blog with a similiar subject to help promote your new website and help send traffic to it and your new ebook. If you get a blogger blog, they usually do well in google and can get some good traffic if the content is kept fresh and you have some links pointing to it.. Sounds like your ready to work so get started with free stuff first if your limited in funds..
