Need comments on my upcoming site design

Hi there peeps, I just made a webdesign for my upcoming site and it's supposed to be a niche blog based on Singapore shopping tips and recommendations.

Also, please let me know if the design is appropriate or appealing lol, cause I'm getting feedbacks from people that it looks more like an adult site than a shopping blog. -.-

 

Nice and attractive colors. The template is also very nice; proceed for further design.

 

I like the layout...but i don't like the colors....they are to dark....try to use a palette generator....the logo is good...

Hi guys, based on the feedback I've gotten so far, I've brighten up the layout a little so I hope it's not too dark now.

(btw at the moment i didnt use valid xhtml/css for the prototype, so it wont appear well in firefox, just ignore that part first. )

You should add some dummy text. Most people use Lorem Ipsum. That way you can visualize your theme with the content.

Colour scheme is a little dark but maybe with content it will pull it off properly?

 

Yeh I hope so haha, I'll be adding all the sample texts, in white and they wont be bold so the typography will look better.

hmm.. why? My design for vividshopping was in purple/pink btw. and for my websites, i usually deal with secondary colors like cyan,limegreen,orange,pink together with white or black.
