.co.uk or .com

I am in the UK so have been using amazon.co.uk and referring people to that site.

Should I sign-up with amazon.com associates too and start linking to them instead?

Anyone got any tips for dealing with geography?

    Thanks.

check your stats and see where your visitors are from

I'm experimenting with putting international sites on sub-domains, and leaving the main domain for the site as a .com extension. If you are not doing international sales, and you are planning to sell to people in the uk only, then you might want to just go with the .co.uk extension.

    thanks,

I have the exact same question. Except in my case I get lots of traffic from Canada, Japan and Germany as well as the UK and USA.

Isn't there a way to have one Amazon link and you'll get credit no matter what Amazon country site people buy from?

merchants in different countries might have their own affiliate programs and one affiliate program might not work for all regions. specially programs that target visitors form specific region. for example: you you sign up with blockbuster, then the program will cover US traffic only. if you have UK traffic then you need to sign up for Uk affiliate program. sane goes with amazon. UK visitors wil buy from UK site, not from US

Very good post.....many people are loyal to where they live. Those in the UK will be more apt to purchase from a .co.uk site since to the consumer.... it seems to be a local site.

More should be said about "consumer intent" but it is hardly ever a subject that is broached.....

If you figure out the consumer intent part.....then it helps with business decisions that are made with a clear understanding and a solid business building strategy.... which separates things from business decisions that are best guesstimates of what the webmaster thinks will work....

Is there php code or using ip htaccess to send the US customers to US subfolder/page and the UK customers to UK subfolder/page?

I'd appreciate if anyone could point me in a right direction. I also have two amazon (UK & US) accounts and I'm thinking of work around.

The best way to track where your visitors are coming from is to use Google Analytics. Google's help pages are a great resource if you need instructions on how to do it.

sorry habitat, I'm talking about knowing where they are coming from so that the right buy button can be displayed for UK & US amazon site. Not for analysis for later on.
