200 clicks needed for $5 but no giving up

    This recession is making us feel very bad lately, except few lucky ones that (supposedly) have the right niches. Used to have average of 10 cents per click but now this is for times smaller. Traffic is constantly increasing but revenue is going down the drain. So what do I do? I've started working harder to try to compensate the loss with hope that in near future bad days will be behind us, and that there will be even more revenue than it used to be. Thinking about earning big bucks in these times is to me nothing but a road to depression so I think about the future and the days without global financial crisis.

    That is my tip for you all, think positive, work hard, and hope for the best. This recession won't last forever. Good luck to you all.

    You make your own "luck". Bad luck is a failure to plan. What you do is figure out whey you are not making money and then fix it. Or you replace Adsense with something that pays more.

    I would suggest keeping you're adsense but implementing Infolinks.com as well, just to try them out. I started with them about a month ago, and am happy with their company. Adsense makes more per click, but I probably get about 3x as many clicks to my Infolinks (not sure why). I don't make much, about 10 cents per click. You could make more or less, but it's easy to try them out. They approve easy with no minimum traffic, and is just a snippet of code you add to your website. Otherwise, find key phrases that are in your general niche but pay better, and write content surrounding them. I was reading an email tonight that dealt with that. Say your website is about "painting" but it's low paying by adsense. You could add a few articles on "home improvement" which is higher paying...or add some articles on "home improvement loans" which is even higher paying...

    Use section targeting to emphasize the 'better' areas of your content.

    Other networks? Try AdBrite or YPN for a starters, try to mix up your ad formats, placement, colors, fonts, background images etc!

    Believe me, it is very much possible. I have some good paying niches as well as some low paying niches but there are some days when they all perform extremely badly;for instance last two days ma average click was somewhere around 2,5 cents.

    lately I need somewhere around 400 clicks to pass the $10 mark but hopefully things will improve in days to come.

    Traffic is not bad, 80 % from SE.

    Sometimes, it just made me wonder whether all the effort put in is worthwhile. But to look on the positive side, I think it's good to be optimistic and not giving up.

    I wonder how muxh exchange rates and your traffic sources effect the click prices. I got one click last week that was $1.26

    Section targeting helps to make adsense ads more relevant

    Use comment tag to target relevant sections of page:
    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->

    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    Use the following tag to ignore irrelevant section of the page
    <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
