what is the difference b/w traffic & impression?

    i am a new adsense user.....
    and i am confused about these two things...
    i am getting about 600-700 UV a day in my blog...
    but when i check adsense, i see there is like 4000 or so impressions...
    so, what is difference b/w traffic and impressions?

    traffic is per person or ip, one person can visit many pages -> impressions

    It can happen that one visitor visits 5-6 pages on average. So 600 visitors would mean 3000-3500 impressions.
