Quick Question About Using Directory As URL

    Hi,

Say I had a website called plants.com and I wanted to have different sections so for example a section on indoor plants, could I set up my website so that some pages have a kind of sub directory, like: plants.com/indoor-plants/houseplants.html

Would my site be likely to get a better SEO score from using the indoor-plants sub directory? Or would there not be much difference if I just had plants.com/houseplants.html?

And also how would this be done - is it simply a case of uploading the indoor-plants folder to the root of my hosting package?

Thanks for any help, hope what I've said makes sense.

I normally avoid such 'category/sections' but if you have a keyword rich category and have many such categories it might also help in managing the website better.

To answer your second question, unless there is a funny CMS, just uploading the indoor-plants folder would be good.

I think in this case, to be asking a question like this is really very nit picky. The difference in ranking will be almost zilch which ever way you go.

Do whatever works best for your visitors.
