How do I optimise for a keyword with a '.' in it

I have a keyword with a dot (.) in it.... For example 'web 2.0' my keyword isn't that, but you get the idea.

What domain should I try and buy as in domains you are unable to have dots.... Should I buy a domain like www.web-2-0.com or just go with www.web20.com etc? Urgent comments appreciated.

I don't know if google and other search engines will give importance to the point character or only to the words surrounding it.

I think the last so doesn't matter if you put the point or not.
