Is Obama Putting US In A Stalemate?

Discussion in 'Politics & Religion' started by SolutionX, Feb 9, 2009.

With all the extremely poorly timed pork He's trying to get passed, knowing that it won't pass, is Obama simply freezing the whole economy when it's already teetering on the edge?

I believe so, but would like to hear both sides.

    Regards

No he has been in office for three weeks. As far as the stimulas bill I agree that the house included 5% which adds up, of non stimulating spending... The recent changes in the senate "compromise" sadly took out some really important items. Infrastructure, green transportation and energy, Food stamps, and updates to our education should not be removed.

Is Obama a god? Do you want some miracle to happen? Things will definitely improve but will take some time:)

Things will improve with or without Obama, he may either speed up the process or slow it down.

I heard a Senator on MSNBC say that he didn't see what good changing light bulbs in Government buildings and buying electric cars would do for the economy.
As long as "Fat Cats" like that have such little understanding of waste and saving money over the long haul, it will be a stale mate.

it's a bit earlt to tell. But I think that he has some good ideas. With the stimulus it really has little to do with him once we get it. We should start buying useful things and weed out the crap that we don't need.

I think all that long term stimulus stuff is OK if we were ALREADY OK, but we are in a depression and we need to start becoming producers instead of consumers... not inject more money into consumers' veins.

By the time all this massively expensive stuff he's proposing starts having an effect, we'll be at the mercy of China and India. (Maybe we already are)

What he is trying to do is set us up for a strong recovery. Not just getting some jobs back, but to stop the waste that cripples us from doing other things, like managing our own ports.(A HUGE security risk)

He is trying to trying to make us better off for the long haul, not just a quick fix to please a few unemployed factory workers and farmers.
It seems his mind set is, "If we are going to spend money, let's spend on things that will save us money for the fiture of the country, not just the next 4 years."
