Is Kontera killing my Adsense CTR?

Is it possible that Kontera is the reason that my Adsense CTR is so low? I'm getting only about 30-40 uniques per day, but I still expect at least a click a day! I think that I have my adsense ads placed in good locations - top banner, beneath each post, and a square block in the right sidebar.

Anyway...I turned my Kontera ads off today - I was making pennies per week with it anyway, so in my opinion, it's just making my content look more cluttered. And I'm wondering if it's the reason my Adsense ads are getting ignored?

Anyone else have trouble mixing Kontera and Adsense??

I installed Kontera in my forum and got nothing but complaints from the members. It slowed the forum right down and after a couple of days I had to remove it.

I doubt if it has anything to do with CTR on adsense though.

I have a site that gets a couple of thousand page views per day and I only get one or two clicks on the ads.

Placement of the adverts is the key ;)

The loading time of Ads is the problem? A solution is the placement of Ads is the key. Think of how your webpage loading. :)

As a web visitor, it's quite annoying to see the Kontera ads appearing. In a way or another, that are bound to affect your adsense as well.

There is a effect if you use both kontera and adsense. The Kontera actually will slow down your loading speed. Some of the visitor might leave because they are lazy to wait. The effect shall depend on your page size also

Kontera will not affect your Adsense CTR is anyway. They actually work well together. Randy Brown from GrownUpGeeks has made several post praising the combo.

    Some say yes...some say no...

The best thing for you to do is give each way a 2 week trial period and compare results.

Running Kontera and adsense together will create less CTR on both because it's overkill. I found, and so did my visitors, that using Kontera was very annoying. I stopped using then after 2 days due to the negative affects. I would use only one ad service on a page.

i've been using Kontera with Adsense for a year or two and have several comparison tests to see if my CTR was affected by either one. Every test i've done shows no noticeable change in Adsense CTR with Kontera on the page.

If you find that your members are complaining about the Kontera links, do what I do - ONLY display Kontera to anonymous/guest users.. Actually, at my site I display 99% of all advertisements to only guests.

As for Kontera slowing down your site.. I've seen this posted over and over, yet never once have I seen this on my site or any other site that uses Kontera, and I've never gotten a complaint about it. I wonder if it might be due to the location of your site/visitors in relation to the Kontera servers, which i believe are located in the western United States (San Fran).. One thing that WILL make your site load slow with Kontera is placing the tags/code wrong. Be sure you have it posted very last on your page, right before your /BODY tag.

I also found that beginning in late 2008, Kontera began to overtake Adsense in daily earnings. Since Dec 2008 I have been beta-testing a new PPc network so i dont know if Adsense earnings are still on the slide, but based on reading posts here at DP, Adsense is still falling for most publishers. So using Kontera in combination with Adsense is a great way to keep your overall income up.

@Tearabite - Interesting take on Kontera there. My view is that Kontera is a viable monetization method to supplement Adsense earnings ( as oppose to replace them ).

    Thanks for the feedback :)

I took Kontera off for a couple of days and my Adsense earnings have tripled!! So I guess in my case, Kontera just doesn't work well with Adsense - maybe I'll turn Kontera back on in the future and try it again though.

If I were u, I would not install kontera at all. I find that their click thru rate and earnings are too low. So low that it made me feel they are cheating and contacted their support. They didnt' offer any good support for me in any way. I had to hence switch from kontera to infolinks. It is earning me very good amounts these days.
