Here's the new study result: According to a new study, the brain performance of people is unconsciously enhanced by different colors depending upon the nature of the task. In their study, University of British Columbia researchers set out to resolve a long running debate among advertisers about which color, red or blue, stimulates the brain more. - source
So I should be surrounded by blue now that I'm writing a short story. Let's give this 'research' a try.
There may be something to this. I heard they found that painting jail cells pink helped calm violent prisoners.
This is a interesting study. I've done a lot of research in colors in marketing, one of the major colors is yellow which causes hunger and red which causes a form of need and excitement in most people; both of which are used in fast food restaurants.
pink jail cells-rofl!! the ultimate torture!! I find pink jails hard to believe it would be calming. Blue- is the colour of calm. Yellow-stimulates intellect red-anger passion orange-healing colour, stimulates growth green-cant remember it lol I find it frustrating when i see these makeover shows paint peoples bedrooms red or yellow. Ideally bedrooms should be blue to help with sleep. overkill of red or yellow would promote insomnia.
I don't think it really makes a difference. I think its probably just a correlation with certain personalities with certain colors. I don't think it actually affects performance.
I think the article is true. I've read from a different article that each color can create different moods. Perhaps this is the reason why colors affect performance.
I really wish the debate can draw a conclusion . So I can find out why my brain performance are always on average even comparing to myself .
I have always noticed that I feel more relaxed and my thoughts are more organized if my room has white or sky blue walls. Dark-walled rooms make me feel gloomy.
