Given all the changes at Google and their algo, does PR still matter much? If so, to what degree?

Pagerank never did matter. It's a gimmick and a guideline at best

    Serps matter

    Traffic matters

    Conversion rates matter

yes it is really more based on conversion rates, but i'd say page rank can definately get you favored on paid searches and most definately on raw searches. But you can get onto google with a brand new site and if optimized correctly pay for top spots and profit well. Page rank as mentioned above is somewhat more just some great talk that has a little effect.

pr is next to useless unless your selling your site or selling links as far as rankings go.

PR is also important for link exchanges. Most webmasters base the link exchange off of PR. So the higher PR you have the better links you normally get.

Indeed, but that's only because those webmasters have bought into the gimmick.

Agreed. I tend to base mine more on relevancy, position, and traffic! :)

But traffic can be lied about and PR cant (for the most part). Thats why I think many still rely on it for a factor in link exchanges.

Right- I agree. But alot of us are still using PR as a basis to measure that decision to link or not.

I believe PR boost your search ranking for your keyword. I would not write it off.

I wouldn't write it off either but no one here has provided substantial evidence as to why it does or doesn't matter. Most of the stuff here are just opinions for now

PR will always matter because money will always matter. If everyone buys into a gimmick majority beats minority. And majority of people will buy links and it will raise sale price. PR is good for money and thats all. But in my opinion money is reallll good.

Well what I said is evidence.

Webmasters use it as a reference for link exchanges. The higher PR you have the better quality link exchanges you will get. Which equals better link popularity, rank higher in SERPs, more traffic, more money.

I think the PR matters only for sites that link to relevant and material and content.

Think about it this way if someone will give you a pr9 site but does not have good serps sucky site and everything for 50$ you'd take it. Which proves pr is worth it.

PR(Page Rank) does matter . this concept developed by Google ,Google prefers to present the result on organic search listing in ascending order of PR (Always with some exception case also.)

Page Rank does not reflect the credentials of website with search engine compatibility but also reflect the link popularity in particular domain group.

Google also use a system to keep all website indexed in PR ordering.

Higher the your linked with relevent website=Higher the link popularity=higher the traffic to your site=higher the clicks rate=higher the conversion rate=higher the ROI and achivement in your site objective.:)

Page Rank also reflect your score on using search engine plateform specially google algorithem.if you do some thing unacceptable by Google algorithem, you may be panelised by decresing your PR by Google.it is only way to know that you have made some thing wrong with site.

as conclusion, PR is Score card of your website in the school of Google.:) .

You're far better to verify the site using Google's webmaster tools (integrated in with sitemaps) and see the crawl stats.

It also shows you what your site is ranking for and getting clicks for.

You have tools like the dp keyword tracker to help you monitor your serps and these respond daily. PR changes quarterly.

I know where I'd rather get my information from.

PR isn't all that useless. It allows you to rank higher if you have good links pointing to you.
