I was creating a new campaign and made a typo on a keyword, I ended up typing "smleycentral" What does Adwords say about it? WTF???
You've just discovered Google's secret sauce that lets it change its stock price and profits anytime it wants! In all seriousness though, I've always wondered whether there'd be a variable in the pricing that Google sets itself that basically scales the prices up or down.
The rules regarding Quality Score are very clear: AdWords probably detected that your ads and your landing page are not relevant for the keyword "smleycentral". Relevancy down -> Quality Score Down Quality Score Down -> Minimum Bid Up
Great post, yeah you would need to have a nice landing page set up optimised for the keywords you want to bring the price down. Why not try it out, make a small landing page with the words smleycentral on it & retry adding the keyword to see what it changes it to?
Yeah, so all I need to do to fix this is bid 10 bucks and then Adwords will be happy and ignore this... lol... no wonder those guys are millionaires
You can also check the documentation that explain this: https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=38197 I already had problems with landing pages with pure graphic or flash pages. To have a keywords on landing page is not only important to activate the keyword but also to have you ad on one of the top position (High quality score).
Did you end up trying to the experiment with the smleycentral keyword on your page? Going from $10 to nickel clicks would be interesting... *tries now*
