    Dear friends,

I have a website with a forum. It hosted on Godaddy.
The traffic is decreasing from 1200 a week to 600 a week (regarding ExtrimTraker) and many times the website is down.

I called Godaddy and they say to buy Virtual Dedicated Server.
Could you please advise if it reasonable ?

    Any other options ?

When I called them 8days ago they offered 45% discount for 2years plan.
It is 35% now. How can I rely on them if my website just started to get down ?

    Thanks for the advice.

If your traffic is decreasing then why is godaddy telling you to upgrade to VPS?

You can find good VPS deals in the Web Hosting offers in this forum.

Yea, I too wonder why they're saying you to upgrade to VPS? There could be more reason like possibly you may need more promotion of your site.

    Too bad to hear that.
I have heard enough bad complain about GD hosting.
They are specialize in domain name but poor in hosting.
So,you're advisable to transfer your host to other host such as HG.

    wow strange

the site must be going down because of traffic.

If in that case you should get a vps, but hmm doesn't seem like too much traffic for shared hosting

A VPS is probably a good idea, however I wouldn't commit to a 2 year term. Most VPS companies can give you really good pricing even if you are only month to month. Do a search on google and you will find more VPS companies than you can shake a stick at.

I've been using Indianets for a few months now. You can find their thread in the Services scetion here on DP. They offer Unique IP hosting and are very cheap for this type of service. It hasn't been down once to my knowledge and the support staff are friendly and eager to impress their customers.

Your forum must to have exceeded the limits you agreed on while puchasing the hosting package. Hosting companies propose Virtual Dedicated Servers to those who use up too much resources on shared hosting/server. Forums with high traffic know to do that. An example is if your forum contains lots of pictures/graphics, it eats up the server's memory easily and the forum goes offline for exceeding the quota.

It looks like itsl.in - misleading or very hard to find how can I get hosting from them.
Sorry guys, you are not useful.

I think it depends on how BW you are using..if its under the alloted BW then you are fine. you don't neeed to get a VPS.

If Godaddy can't handle 1200 visitors in a week, and your scripts are optimized, then you should shop around for another host.
