What is a good keyword density ratio in content online?

    Hey Everyone!

When it all comes down to it, I've read mixed numbers and mixed reviews when it comes to keyword density in online content.

Some sources say 4%. Some say closer to 5%. Others say that if the content begins to lose its flow and sound forced, then you've gone to far, whether that density amount be 3% to 10%.

Is there any solid density ratio to go by?

Perhaps we're looking at a trial and error situation......

For Meta Tags I like to keep it anywhere between 5-7% however when it comes to my actual content (articles) I dont check or both because I just write the article for the readers instead.

Just stick below 10% and you'll be fine. In my opinion keyword density is not too important. It is more of an area that you just have to be careful to avoid penalties. It is not something that will have a huge impact on your rankings. In the end, things like quality of backlinks counts for so much more.

Keyword density is the total number of times your keywords appear within the content of your web page, including text, hyper links, and the ALT tags of your images, etc

To configure your keyword density you must check the number of times a keyword appears in the content of your web page, divide it by the total number of words and that's your keyword density ratio.

The higher your keyword density is, the greater influence you'll have getting the better Search Engines ranking.

But please, don't over repeat the same combination of words just to increase your keyword density. Otherwise your website will get penalized by the search engines.

Thanks for all of the replies!!

Yes, I know what it is....I've just heard mixed reviews about what is an "ideal" ratio to have.

I agree that as soon as the content begins to sound fabricated and forced, you've gone to far. The readers are the most important by far!
