    Okay, I'm back. Hold onto your hats.

    I'm associated with that university and can confirm that the image is a hoax. It has been circulating for a long time (since before I was last there in 2006). Official Durham headed letter paper, of which I retain a healthy collection, has a slightly different design to that, although that is the correct logo and a plausible name.

    Do you see a signature? I sure don't.

    Probably a student scaned a DU letter into the computer and just changed the body text :/ not hard to do.
