Shift in the SERP's

For the past couple of days I've noticed an appreciable gain in the SERP's for some phrases I'd been targeting. These gains seem to be solid across most DC's and relatively stable.

The following is speculation on my part...

It doesn't appear to be an update per-se, rather credit being passed for a new group of links that were previously known but possibly in stasis, all at once.

I have seen a slight increase in my serp results, I have been doing alot of back linking and removed a link from a sitewide link. i think the site wide was getting me penalised cos it was using the same anchor text.
