Is it true that if you submit an established website to website/blog directories, it's actually going to hurt the website's rankings instead of giving benefits? I know directory submissions are useful for website launches and new projects, but what about if you got a website, which is about 6 months old, and has never been submitted to anywhere?
I recentlt bought article marketer.com , my site is 5 months old... I submited 2 articles and went from #4 in google - #1
Directory submission is useful for both new and older sites but only if you submit to good directories, gradually submission to directories increase search engine ranking for new site and helps to make the position solid for older sites
Yes, directory submission is a good way to get backlinks but it has to be done properly. I mean, it should be done manually and should be submitted only to good directories.
If you are doing automatic submission to multiple directories at a time then you new site could get sandboxed... But if you go through and just submit to 5 directories per day every day it will be good for new or old sites...
I would also recommend to submit your website in local directories i.e. If your website is targeted to the audience of UK then you should go for uk domains. It will surely helps you....
Directory submission is good but only submit in high pr site which are established one. Submission in a new directory having pr1 is of no use i think. Apart from this links from ezine and articlemarketer is of much importance.
Thanks a lot for the info. I downloaded a free program to see where it would submit but the directories were junk. so FYI, manually submit to high PR ones.
Just focus on quality..!! If the directory where you are submitting your website has: - Google PR - Indexed in Google - The category where you are submitting your website is relevant to your website then it will never hurt..
