Will a Free .co.cc domain name rank high in the search engines??

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by anisa_b, Mar 22, 2008.

www.co.cc offers free domains - well a sub domain of .co.cc

    Example: www.yourdomainname.co.cc

It has some or all of the features you'd get with a normal domain i.e domain forwarding, A, MX, and CNAME records , DNS services etc all for free.

My question is.. If I use these kinds of domains, will they still be able to rank high in the search engines??

i believe so, as long as everything else is aimed at getting you a high pr, than search engines dont care about sub domains.

.co.cc is only masking your site i don't think it will give you any rankings

co.cc domains aren't masking they are true sub domains. I think for PR wise they would be getting the same treatment as other domains. But I won't want to work for a sub domain which isn't mine in the first place. Rather spend a bit more money get my own domain and promote it hard.

I believe that you will be disadvantaged compared to having your own domain.

Think it from Google's point of view. Should we give a high ranking to a website to such site? How long will it last? Reliable?

your free co.cc could be taking away from you at anytime, so it would be better if you used a real domain for getting PR.

Ask urself is the risk of spending ur hard work on someone else domain worth it?
Instead get a free .biz from 1and1.com :)

because co.cc has the absolute rights to kick out domains, and they do not promise free domain policy at a 'permanent basis'

I think they will be treated same as our own domains for PR and ranking.
but the problem is one cant trust on them, and its always better to have your own thing to work on for future.
you neve know when they kick you out and steal your subdomains, showing same lame reason.

havent seen .co.cc sites ranking well, but that is mainly due to webmasters who are serious go for other extensions like .com

well since these domains are actually with the cc extension, wich is for cooks islands, i think it will be hard to rank in the us with these domains, same as it is hard to rank with .nl .de .be .es worldwide, these are area related domain extensions, so they rank mainly in their own area.

they can be usefull for redirecting. anything really exept rankings in us or worldwide.
