Is this a good marketing idea? (free call of duty 4)

I was thinking about holding a contest for a free Call of Duty 4 account at my blog once I get 50 RSS subscribers...

Might seem like a ripoff towards me, but I quit video games a good while ago, so I have no use for it, so I have decided to use it as a prize in a contest.

So i thought it would work this way:

People will subscribe to my blog in hopes of having a chance to receive a free Call of Duty 4 account, once I reach 50 RSS Subscribers, I will hold a lottery by having people e-mail me their entries (also with a screenshot as proof of subscribing)

Then I will assign each e-mail message I just received in my inbox a number. Then I will go to random.org and random a number via the integer generator, and whichever e-mail message matches with the number, I will reply to the address with the Call of Duty 4 account information.

It's a win-win situation in my opinion. The subscribers have a chance at winning a free account, and I have a chance at promoting my blog.

To keep my subscribers, I will be holding more contests...

After improvising and writing all this, I have decided to make it official.
Subscribe and have a chance at winning a free account! (worth $50) Plus, you'll also be eligible for further contests!

please dudes! :) You have nothing to lose! :O

P.S. the Call of Duty 4 account runs on Steam.

If I were you I'd allow subscription via e-mail. Feedburner has this facility and it works a treat.

As long as the prize is good then blog contests are always a good idea.

And COD4 is one of the most popular games at the moment

Don't take offense but your blog seems pointless and i cannot see how your readers would be interested in COD4, maybe if it was a tech/gaming blog yes, but it's a blog about a cat or something, i totally don't get your blog maybe you can elaborate.

Well, it's about someone's ( a cat's ) life and everything he blogs about would seem unreal. Personification is a major, over exaggerated theme in this blog. My idea came from www.violentacres.com, and that blog is also about someone who blogs about his/her life but everything written seems unreal, yet funny. But my blog is wayyyy different in writing style, etc.

The difference in my blog is that it hasn't had much exposure yet (the blog is only a few weeks old), plus my blog sort of revolves around video games, so I'd want to capture the attention of gamers mainly. I usually post my articles in video game forums, about half the people love the content, and about the other half of the people hate me for posting because they think I'm just trying to advertise my site, which is really what I am doing.

Anyways, I think holding the Call of Duty 4 contest is still a good idea, and it's also good that i still have my $40 gamestop giftcard so I can buy more vid games and sell them for contests ^_^.

Why? How do I do this? I have feedburner on my blog, do I just have to look more carefully for the e-mail function?

True that, but I feel that people are more likely to subscribe to a blog when they see that other people are subscribed to the blog.
