This article is quite old and as far as I know everybody is still doing SEO (at least I do). So judge for yourself Nice linkbait title though.
Spelling and grammar has died in this topic...... Oh... what I meant to say is that, SEO won't die any time soon as it's a very profitable business and some people just won't let it die.
Obvious link bait, Shoe.. But just think about it.. billions of pages indexed, over a million new ones a day discovered, they have a big problem, and all you need to know are the rules. Google is just a machine that follows instructions. They keep turning the dials, but it's pretty easy to rank well. It's all about links, on page and off page. Social site voting and bounce rates, etc. are minor factors (some of the "dials" they turn), but links are still king. (NOT content, as some would lead you to believe. It's just another minor factor, as I can get a blank page to rank on google with the right links) Example: the duplicate content "Myth" which really only exists on the same domain. I use other people's content all the time (with permission, of course) and out rank them, even though they wrote it and posted it to their site sooner than I did. I NEVER write unique content except for the homepage of my sites. (Big waste of time/money) Yes they are making it harder and harder for the newbie, but for those of us that stay on top of things "AKA Stompernet members" the future looks brighter than ever.
I remember 5 years ago, some 'guru' claiming 'affiliate marketing has had its day...' yet here we are...
As long as Google sells Ad Words, affiliate marketing will flourish and thrive. The number of people LOSING MONEY will increase. Like any pyramid scheme, the folks who got in at the ground floor will still make $$$. Eventually, Google will have to change the way they do business. But for now, enjoy the wild west! Some day we will all look back fondly at these times, when SEO was EZ to master and you can still get on Page One for free.
