I've tampered with Ubuntu, LinuxMint, and FreeBSD. Although they are all viable working OSs. I still prefer a mainstream OS. I understand why there are many people out there that prefer open source software but it just isn't for me. Although I am not a huge gamer I still want that option to be there if a new game comes out that I would like to play. And to be honest I have had very minimal problems running vista home premium on my laptop that I have had for almost 5 months now. But to all the people people out there that enjoy using open source software more power to you!

Well to break it down to you as simply as I can let's just say I'm on windows xp and am tired of all of the security issues so I go ahead and download ubuntu and start using it. No problem I got my mozilla here and my word processor there, but then I want to download a program that's in a windows format uh oh I can't get it to run. Yeah I know there are ways to run a virtual machine to run windows on linux but why go through the trouble? If you don't like certain features of windows you can always get "custom" editions found online, but don't tell anyone I told you ;)

Sometimes I hate windows. When they upgrade the OS, some of old features are gone.

I like windows because I often use dreamweaver+photoshop+illustrator to do my work. I would switch if linux had those 3 programs.

I prefer to use Ubuntu. The only problem that I had is it is a pain in the ass to get my programs to run correctly. So now I am currently using Windows7 which runs a lot smoother then vista and xp.
